Tad doesn't have any memory before waking up on the beach, apparently the sole survivor of a shipwreck. All he has from his past is a necklace with a symbol no one recognizes.

After growing up in the orphanage, he takes a job managing inventory for a merchant catering to adventurers. He knows he's a bit off, the world just smells different to him.

When he's confronted by a group of adventurers with more power than ethics, he learns that it's been magic he is smelling all along. As the confrontation builds he learns that he can eat that same magic, but it isn't enough to keep him from being taken.

Waking up in a dungeon, he quickly learns they are more than monster filled pits. They are tools of the Great System and just maybe doorways through the multiverse.

Now he must struggle to prove his worth, grow in power, and master his strange ability, all complicated by the fact that the enchantments on his gear might just be alive.

I'll keep this short and to the point. This book is quite good, the MC isn't super overpowered by the end (which is good) and it has a lot of twists that keep one guessing. My only complaint is that while the narrator does a great job on the MC conveying his emotions, he does the same upon reading the battle lines or details. While I can see the appeal of this type of reading style, it's not really MY cup of tea. It won't stop me from listening to the other books, as I'm already a few hours into book 2.... but I'm still not use to it completely lol.

An amazing story and read with A LOT of passion.

I like the story and the abilities. Wasn’t quite as good as some of the other titles. Wasn’t the biggest fan of the voice acting. The self loathing type of speech throughout the book felt like too much. Good story decent book. But out of the authors titles this one isn’t one of my favorites.

Pretty good

completely original story line, all while staying in the litrpg genre. not just a story of a lost boy and power!!!

not sure why this series isn't more popular!!!!

This book was tough for me to rate. Once completed and looking back on it I can say overall I enjoyed it.

At first I really didn't like the MC, he was like a child being very submissive, down on himself, and well not very smart. He does grow through out the book gaining confidence which helps to develop him into an okay character by the end even if he makes a rather bonehead decision near the end while filled with emotion. He also for some reason can't put 2 and 2 together like all the readers can despite him being given the same info. It can be frustrating with a dull slow witted MC at times.

I do enjoy the crafting portion though admittedly it was a bit hard to relate because he doesn't really craft. Like when he makes his best item he kind of just visualize what he wants relying on his nature to "call to the void" and the enchantments kinda just do themselves with his will power. I will give this part a pass though because of how he treats the 'spirits if enchanting'.

Overall I will read the next book and hope he keeps improving.
