Your mother will probably judge you for listening to this, but who cares? Contains M/M, smut, mpreg, alternative human biology, shifting, Brit-cop humor, sarcasm, a traumatized protagonist, child abuse (implied but never described), and, most importantly, copious amounts of tea drinking. If you're a fan of this genre, you'll know what to expect.

Omegaverse books are a guilty pleasure of mine, and I was counting down the days until this audiobook was released. And, I was not disappointed! The vibes were immaculate.

This was a hilarious, infuriating, sweet, tear inducing, smile causing story! I felt all of the feelings but the suspense was well written. The romance was so sweet with a bit of great spice. And the ending was EVERYTHING!! Wonderful narration as well which just added to an already incredible book.

I have read the book twice and loved it so of course I pre-ordered the audiobook. The story is great- lots of action, great Omegaverse romance, wonderful main and secondary characters, and my favorite HEA ever. Even though the plot and themes were a bit heavy, there is a lightness to the writing that keeps the book fresh. It’s a fine line to walk, but if you want a buddy cop Omegaverse romcom tearjerker lite with mystery, this is it.

Narration was PERFECT. Derek Duvall is new to me but I will definitely be looking for more from him. Perfect accents, distinct voices for characters, and great 3rd person ‘narrator voice’.

I can’t recommend this enough; if you like MM romances, this is a top read and listen. Can’t wait for the next one.

*If you are sensitive to trigger warnings, you should double check that there isn’t anything that will bother you. It is not a dark romance but there are some pretty intense moments in the ‘mystery’ plot and a previous relationship.

The ending of this book was everything you'd want it to be. The love story of Lucas and Oliver wasn't easy but it wasn't tormented. Oliver had to get past the emotional damage done by a past poverty. He is a very competent detective who meets another detective from a London unit and they have to work together in overlapping cases. The story moves quickly from there. Great romance a few times it brought tears to my eyes.

This beautiful story reminds me why I love to read. Hammer & Gravel is both technically perfect and beautifully emotional, which I think is rare. And the narration is just wow. My heart is so happy as I download the next book.
