From New York Times best-selling author, Penelope Douglas, comes a new stand-alone!

Three of them, one of her, and a remote cabin in the woods. Let the hot winter nights ensue....

Tiernan de Haas doesn’t care about anything anymore. The only child of a film producer and his starlet wife, she’s grown up with wealth and privilege but not love or guidance. Shipped off to boarding schools from an early age, it was still impossible to escape the loneliness and carve out a life of her own. The shadow of her parents’ fame followed her everywhere.

And when they suddenly pass away, she knows she should be devastated. But has anything really changed? She’s always been alone, hasn’t she?

Jake Van der Berg, her father’s stepbrother and her only living relative, assumes guardianship of Tiernan who is still two months shy of 18. Sent to live with him and his two sons, Noah and Kaleb, in the mountains of Colorado, Tiernan soon learns that these men now have a say in what she chooses to care and not care about anymore.

As the three of them take her under their wing, teach her to work and survive in the remote woods far away from the rest of the world, she slowly finds her place among them.

And as a part of them.

She also realizes that lines blur and rules become easy to break when no one else is watching.

One of them has her.

The other one wants her.

But he....

He’s going to keep her.

I love Greg Tremblay and will listen to most things with his name attached. This was almost the exception for one reason only. The female voice actor was so sooo sooooo excruciatingly bad she made me want to rip my ears off (honestly, I couldn’t even make it through the first chapter of her horrible voice acting)….however, I couldn’t fully abandon my Greg.

So, here’s a tip for avoiding her droning, snooze inducing voice and getting to the quality voice actors: buy the kindle and the audible version and just read her parts and listen to the male parts. The male parts are few but worth a listen (especially the exceptionally talented Mr. Tremblay!).

And please…for the love of Pete, someone buy this lady some much needed voice acting lessons before she’s hired again and ruins another recording!

Yes. The answer is yes.

Are any of the relationships in this book healthy? Absolutely not. But did I finish the whole thing? Hell yeah.

Well written, creative plot - morally gray relations

Do I need therapy?

Wow. If you are looking for an erotic novel with taboo-ish topics, a great plot, with wonderful flawed characters this is your book. Loved it from the very start. Which is totally why this book has earned 5 stars. In a story that’s 15 hrs long, Douglas could have dragged out the character or plot (I’ve seen far less quality books take 8hrs to get to the good stuff), but she kicks it off from the beginning.

The story is Interesting, hot, (a little cringy when Tiernan would call Jake “uncle jake” warning: even during sexy times), more hot, hot, and some heartbreak. I liked how the trauma each character is dealing with has nothing to do with sexual dysfunction, but having to do with love and what it looks like when you don’t/can’t love your children. This may be the best Douglas book I’ve read. REALLY awesome ending, exactly what you hope for for all the characters you grow to love.

At first I was not about this book. I started and stopped it a couple of times but finally committed because everyone gave it such great reviews. I will say Tiernan’s coming of age is very different than mine but somehow I can still relate. I think everyone feels invisible at some point in their life and with our girl T, it’s just so much more obvious until she moves in with her step uncle and his two boys. Damn! That’s when stuff gets real. Most of us probably wouldn’t have made the same decisions she made but I bet you can relate. If you need a slightly complicated story that will make you cry, make you pant and then make you smile, this one is for you. I also enjoy when there are multiple POV’s in a book and this also has different narrators to handle those POV’s! Download this today and get to listening!
