I'm not supposed to feel this way…

I never wanted to disappear more than while around my family. Briar Lane, the girl only useful for one thing: my surname. A business handshake and pawn to be traded. My father's chess piece shuffled between empires.

That was my life back in L.A., but all it took was finding the dirty secret stuffed in a jacket pocket, and my entire world unraveled.

So, I fled to the one place I knew they could never find me: Crimson Ridge.

Arriving in this snowy, harsh world, I thought I'd be starting over on my own, but it turns out I couldn't have been more wrong. The abandoned mountain cabin I inherited isn't what it seems.

This mountain hides secrets. An ex-pro bull rider consumes this space, and now, my every thought with it... Stôrmand Lane. My father's adopted brother.

We should never have found ourselves isolated out here in the mountains together, each trying to outrun our pasts.

All it took was one misunderstanding, one line almost crossed, and everything changed.

A girl like me isn't supposed to know what those tattooed hands feel like, and I'm certainly not meant to feel butterflies anytime that pair of piercing blue eyes land on mine.

He might be my every fantasy, a cowboy I constantly dream about, but he's a temptation I have to ignore. A man I absolutely cannot find myself attracted to.

Even when he's looking at me with the kind of hunger that can only spell ruin for us both.

Long, dark nights spent in this tiny cabin can't be the excuse to step into forbidden territory.

Or can they?

Holy Hot! I cannot get enough of Storm and Briar and they will live rent free in my head. I was 2% and already in love with Stôrmand Lane. I loved their physical chemistry and budding relationship from the start. Between Storm’s dirty mouth to Briar’s sexual awakening, they created a wonderfully steamy storyline. Briar really came into her own as the book progressed and fought the things that had been dimming her light in her past. I love a good taboo romance and this was everything I was hoping for and more. This book pulled me straight into the cowboy era and I am not sure what to do with myself. I loved their characters in the book and desperately regret not reading Chasing the Wild yet. MUST READ!

The actors voices were both incredibly soothing and easy to listen to. I loved the way these characters came to life. The acting was fantastic!

5⭐/4.5🌶️

oh my god. i thought chasing the wild was somethin, but THIS. now this... was something! I read this book last year when it released but once i heard the audiobook was coming out, i preordered this so fast. Uncle Storm and Briar were so fun to fall in love with, i was so so happy to hear their story all over again!

First off, its a very spicy book full of some very fun taboo things so please keep that in mind before picking this up. BUT if that doesnt bother you, lets dig in.

This book was everything i wanted and then some. There is somehow more spice in this book than chasing the wild, and it threw me in for a loop. I knew there was the free use trope, and i was really curious how that would play out since ive never read a book with that involved. I would even dare say it was the main trope, and a huge focus on the connection our two mc's had.

The obvious taboo nature of their relationship was also a huge factor as expected, and it was mentioned several times. It almost felt like it was mentioned too many times? Like we get it girl, ur banging ur uncle who isnt ur uncle :") but regardless, it didnt have a negative impact on my rating.

The tension that is shown between our two mcs was so steamy from the start you could burn yourself if you arent careful... but once they accepted it BOY did they jump in. Towards the latter half of the story i did feel almost like the smut overtook the plot when it came to our fmcs main issue and through her sped up resolution. I wish we had a bit more time to learn about her relationship with her sister, the ex, and even the parents of the 3rd person involved there. (No spoilers, sorry). We didnt really get to hear any details or developments on that end, and it did feel a bit rushed? The ending was very sweet and satisfying so it made up for it.

Uncle Storm is here to stay 👀

This story was such a rollercoaster of emotions. It was equal parts filthy and hilarious with a tiny side of heartbreak. Amy Hall and Gabriel Spires did their thing once again and knocked it out of the park.

I'm not gonna lie, I was a little scared at first with this one because of the whole step-uncle factor, but honestly, this factor was one of the funniest things in the story. Briar and Storm barely knew each other, to the point that neither of them recognized the other when they first saw each other, and istg I would lol every time either of them reminded themselves of their relation to the other.

Honestly, Briar and Storm were exactly what each other needed. I loved how they helped each other to learn how to love themselves. But of course, self love was not the only lesson learned... iykyk

Now the things that made this story truly emotional, were their secrets. Secrets that could make or break their relationship. Secrets that when they came to light, they still stood by the other's side. Honestly, this is one of the things I loved the most about this story, how no matter what their trust in each other never faltered.

One thing I do wish we had gotten was Storm's reaction to the truth regarding Tegan.

Quote: “This is the first time I’ve fallen, truly fallen. I’ve been thrown from the back of a bull and tossed into the dirt countless times, but this right here is where I’ve crash-landed. This will be the only time I’ll ever fall in love, darlin’. It’s you. You’re it for me.”

“I’d never wanted anything but happiness, and this right here is exactly that for me.”
