Getting pregnant after a one-night stand with my brother’s best friend was never part of the plan.

We’re talking about Foster Davis here. Chicago Colts closing pitcher. The broody king of one-word answers. And the man everyone knows keeps one foot out the door.

Surprisingly, when two pink lines turn my world upside down, Foster doesn’t run. He steps in, he shows up, and he insists we do this together.

Pretending we’re fine is easy. Pretending this is just about the baby? Not so much. Because Foster is gentle when no one’s watching. Because he looks at me like I’m something worth protecting. Because the walls he’s built start to crack—and I’m the one he’s letting inside.

Our arrangement was supposed to be simple. Boundaries were set. Co-parents and no catching feelings.

Okay, maybe a few sex lessons were added in too. Bad idea, I know.

Because the more time I spend with Foster Davis, the harder it is to remember why I ever thought he was the risky choice.

The Wild Card perfectly balances sweet and spicy. Callie & Foster’s chemistry is undeniable and quickly builds into a tension-filled slow burn that had me completely hooked. One moment you’re giggling over their banter, and the next you’re completely consumed by the intensity of their heated stares and almost kisses. Their relationship evolves beautifully—from a one-night stand, to friendship, and finally to a love that feels earned and enduring. They deliver all the heart, heat, and emotional depth I crave in a romance, and I felt every beat of their journey. I highly recommend reading or listening to not only this book, but the series!
The full cast of narrators is phenomenal! Erin Mallon, Sean Masters, Carly Robin, J. F. Harding, Willa Jaymes, Meg Slyvan, Teddy Hamilton, Connor Crais, & Austin Stone are fabulous narrators and voice artists. They do an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life and humanizing them with their emotions, attitude and personality. You could hear how much heart they put into their performance as they captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. They are entertaining storytellers, and their captivating performance keeps you enthralled from beginning to end.

Top freaking tier audiobook. This book was amazing and I’m beyond obsessed with it. These characters officially live rent free within my head. The Wild Card is book 2 in the The Dugout series by Piper Rayne and honestly every single book gets better and better. The Wild Card follows Foster Davis, the closing pitcher for the Chicago Colts. He’s always had some feelings for his best friend’s sister, Callie, so when the opportunity to have one night with her arises, he does just that. What wasn’t supposed to happen? Callie getting pregnant. Callie is determined to try to forget about the great night with Foster Davis. However that becomes impossible when she finds out she’s pregnant. Determined to have the baby with or without Foster, she tries to figure out her next step. Foster surprises her and wants to be a present father for the baby and that means taking care of Callie as well. To keep a closer eye on everything, Foster has Callie move in with him…which we all know how that’s going to go! This audiobook was so good! I was laughing and crying listening to these characters. The full cast made me feel like I part of the group and the character development of Foster was perfection. My heart broke for Foster as he tried to navigate his own feelings! Sean Masters and Erin Mallon were fantastic as the narrators! Sean brought Foster to life and you could hear all the emotion in her performance. Erin was top tier and a delight as Callie.

This story was super cute! Foster and Callie are an adorable couple! I love the brothers best friend trope. And I love that foster is the grumpy broody hottie and Callie is the bubbly cutie. The spice is great and I love the drama and I cannot wait to read the next one!

Super cute

this is a brother best friend, one night stand, surprise pregnancy, coparenting priority, forced proximity, sex lessons/friends with benefits, slow burn romance. both need therapy but none more than Foster. He really has a lot of trauma and scars from his dad and perceived abandonment of his mother, as well as potential betrayal from his twin brother. there was a lot going on in this book. I liked how naturally their relationship developed. to bad they both didnt enter therapy sooner so they could accept their feelings long time before they did so they could have saved themselves a lot of hurt. but, these characters aren't perfect so it is realistic. i do love the call out of the author and her other books during the book store scene. that Easter egg was fun.

ther narrators were great. with the exception of Austin Stone. he was super awkward. he did great with the sleezy landlord but otherwise his cadence was weird and he didnt have any difference in his voices really. he was so awkward. I hated it when he was talking. the only time I liked his voice was the last chapter before the epilogue during the news article. the other narration was awesome. I always enjoy these narrators. I look forward to future books. this is going to be a great series. the nest was fun so I know this one will be fun as well. it already is. this one was deep.

super cute, slow burn, brothers best friend romance

This book was so good! The full cast narration was perfection especially Sean as Foster and Erin as Callie. Loved Foster’s transformation and his ultra protective side as soon as he found out about the pregnancy! Also loved the set up for book 3. Can’t wait!
