Loved the realistic story of a quiet girl who comes into her own but still struggles to believe it. As much as Cam annoyed me, I admire her putting herself first at all times.

I really enjoyed this book, and the rollercoaster of emotions it will take you on. Just when you think everything is falling in place you’re hit with another obstacle. I love how nostalgic it is. It will take you to the moment you fell in love for the first time. I can’t wait to listen to part two.

I like the nostalgic feeling of the early 2000s the book gave. If you are getting into young adult or new adult, black, contemporary romance, this would be a great book to start with. You could definitely see the potential this author has. I’m excited to see the growth in herart. At times it did feel like the character is too childish for them to be mature like students. But I will be continuing on to book 2 to see how Zai and Cam’s story play out!

This was an unexpected but pleasant read. At first, I thought it was a young adult book but quickly realized the beginning was just the start of their journey that began in high school. It was a nice and quick buildup up to their adulthood. It wasn’t a slow burn but well paced. It kept my attention from start to finish. I finished in one sitting at 3:30ish AM with a pending 5:30AM alarm for work! Yes I NEEDED to know how book 1 would end! This is a new author for me and I’m glad we crossed paths! I purchased the ebook for part 2 because I NEED to know NOW how or if things progress. By the way, I wasn’t a fan of the narrator. She spoke too slow IMO, but increasing the speed to 1.2 was much better.
