Author Jennifer Millikin delivers an emotional and riveting small town, second chance romance about a broken man and the woman who can fix him, if only he'll let her.

I'm a soldier.
A cattle rancher.
A Hayden.

My family's legacy is spread out in front of me, just waiting for me to seize it. If it weren't for one outdated rule, I'd be the owner of the Hayden Cattle Company and my aging father could retire.

When Dakota Wright shows up to buy and develop twenty acres of Hayden land, I see more than a pretty mouth and strawberry blonde hair. I see a way around the decree keeping me from getting what I want.

And, as luck would have it, Dakota has a big problem of her own. We strike two deals: one for the land, and a second that'll make both our problems a distant memory.

It isn't too long before I realize I'm in over my head. I've convinced myself the ends should justify the means, but everything begins to fall apart when my birthright is no longer all that I'm after.

I never thought there'd be anything I could love more than my ranch and my country.
I was wrong.

Turns out, I want it all.
Including her.

* Author's Note: The Hayden Family series is standalone, but for maximum enjoyment it is recommended to start from book one.

I'm not usually a second chance romance person, but this one really worked for me. And honestly, now that I think about it, I keep saying that.... so clearly I've been picking up some good second chance romances lately.

This was a low angst, palate cleanser kind of read, and I loved that about it. Wes and Dakota had great chemistry, and I enjoyed that when they finally really opened up to each other they were able to be vulnerable with each other.

Overall, it was an easy, enjoyable read and exactly what I was in the mood for, and I'll be continuing the series.

Easy, Enjoyable, Second Chance

It was charming. The plot could have been stronger, but the story itself was quite endearing.

Cute

I absolutely loved Wes and Dakota. Their bond, their chemistry, their relationship (the past and present)…this book definitely wormed its way into my heart.

What to expect:
•Small Town/Cowboy Romance
•One Night Stand
•Second Chance’ish
•Broken Hero
•Lost Herione
•Marriage of Convenience

When Dakota is in town to make a deal for some land, she comes face to face with her one night stand from years before…and surprise…his family owns the land she’s there to purchase. Oh the tension!!!

Wes is suffering from PTSD from his military career. Dakota is just trying to figure out how to be the person she wants to be. If any two people were destined to find their way back to each other, it’s them.

I was so giddy waiting for that oh snap moment.

A must read…

I loved this story of Wes and Dakota. They had a meet cute five years ago and couldn’t get each other out of their minds. Present day Dakota is coming to town to purchase land. She meets Wes again! There is so much tension, angst, and passion. The narration is done by Hannah Chiclana and Edward Black. Perfect voices for Dakota and Wes. It was an easy listen and highly entertaining. I loved getting to know the Hayden family and can’t wait to listen to more in this series.

So good!!

This was a pretty darn good book. It caught me right away, and while the lead male had a personal dilemma it wasn’t the main story so it didn’t take over the book. I liked the characters but the author seemed careful about not developing the secondary characters. Probably didn’t want to give their history away before their book. It had a great ending and that’s what really counts.

An actual story
