I picked up Stop Letting Everything Affect You during a period of intense heartbreak. The kind that leaves you replaying conversations, questioning your worth, and sitting with a strange, hollow quiet that feels deeply wrong.

This book didn’t make the pain disappear, but it helped me stabilize inside it. The author reframes overthinking and emotional chaos not as personal failures, but as patterns that can be observed, interrupted, and softened with practice. What resonated most was the idea that the void, the discomfort, and the silence aren’t signs that something is broken. According to the author, that silence is often proof that growth is already happening—even when it feels counterintuitive or unsettling.

The book helped me understand that emotional quiet can feel cold or alarming precisely because we’re conditioned to equate movement, reassurance, and intensity with progress. Learning to tolerate that stillness, rather than panic inside it, became one of the most grounding takeaways.

As an Audible listen, the pacing made it easy to return to during anxious moments, and the techniques felt practical rather than preachy. This book is especially helpful if you’re navigating heartbreak, emotional overwhelm, or self-sabotaging thought loops. It won’t numb the pain, but it can help you stop letting the pain dictate every thought.

A grounding listen during emotional freefall

They don’t tell you not to be anxious. They tell you how to navigate the anxiety. Because it is going to happen. My favorite was “give yourself time to worry”. I don’t want paraphrase anything but I intend to listen to it multiple times.

Found it on Instagram. Great book. Would definitely recommend

The content of this book helped me stop my spiral. I’m sure, much like a guitar, I’ll need to re-tune by listening again but this has made a huge impact on me more than anything I’ve ever heard. Wow.

Life changing
