“I loved it." Stephen King

From Jason Rekulak, Edgar-nominated author of The Impossible Fortress, comes a wildly inventive spin on the classic horror story in Hidden Pictures, a supernatural thriller about a woman working as a nanny for a young boy with strange and disturbing secrets.

Fresh out of rehab, Mallory Quinn takes a job as a babysitter for Ted and Caroline Maxwell. She is to look after their five-year-old son, Teddy.

Mallory immediately loves it. She has her own living space, goes out for nightly runs, and has the stability she craves. And she sincerely bonds with Teddy, a sweet, shy boy who is never without his sketchbook and pencil. His drawings are the usual fare: trees, rabbits, balloons. But one day, he draws something different: a man in a forest, dragging a woman’s lifeless body.

Then, Teddy’s artwork becomes increasingly sinister, and his stick figures quickly evolve into lifelike sketches well beyond the ability of any five-year-old. Mallory begins to wonder if these are glimpses of a long-unsolved murder, perhaps relayed by a supernatural force.

Knowing just how crazy it all sounds, Mallory nevertheless sets out to decipher the images and save Teddy before it’s too late.

the book was alright. Not an award winner, and written more toward the young adult crowd, but not the terrible read that some are making it out to be.
I swear, reading some of the reviews, I would think some of you are just looking to be offended and don't know how books work.
just because a book mentions a topic that you may not agree with doesn't mean it's propaganda. nobody is telling you how you should think. it's just a story, and inside a story there will be charectrers and beliefs that don't align with you . . . thats what makes good stories. . .
Anyway, the book is pretty good. a little bit of mystery, a little supernatural. it's a decent read, but maybe not for everyone.

a decent read, sounds like a bunch of haters in the room

Dateline x ghost story is the best way I can describe it. Really enjoyed this story. It kept me interested. The characters were believable. Kept me guessing and was not expecting that ending.

Phenomenal

It was an okay book. Interesting enough and I was able to finish it but it just wasn’t particularly gripping or exciting. The characters felt very one dimensional and I neither liked nor disliked any of them, which is probably what bothered me most. Make me feel things! That’s what makes a book really good.

Meh.

Listening to it, I kind of wish I was able to see the pictures, which apparently you can if you have the print version. I think, even if I could, I wasn’t really impressed, sorry. Not my cup of tea. Sort of had a young adult feel, which I suppose is because the narrator is 19.
