Emilia Taylor hates me, which is absolutely fine by me, because I don’t particularly care much for her either.
Maybe I took things too far, but I decided she was the enemy a long time ago, and she gave me no reason to think differently.
At least not until recently.
And when she sets her mind to prove me wrong, she goes all in.
I’m willing to admit when I’m wrong—because it sure as hell doesn’t happen very often.
But being vulnerable with a woman who I was convinced was out for my family was a big pill to swallow.
So, I’d rather send her a fancy gift and call this vendetta done.
However, she is anything but predictable.
She doesn’t want a fancy gift from a man who she’s declared a broody, heartless billionaire.
Her words, not mine.
And it’s not like you can send flowers to a woman who owns a floral shop.
She wants a sincere apology instead, but that may be more than I can give.
She’s sunshine and rainbows, and I’m…well not.
But when the first tear rolls down her cheek, I swear something inside me cracks.
Turns out, my cold jaded heart still works.
Apparently, it beats for the one woman I never saw coming.

Bridger Chadwick might be my new favorite Chadwick. I really enjoyed getting to know his character more. He has so many personalities and a grumpy exterior it is nice to see the softer sweeter side too. Emilia is full of sunshine and sass— she really was perfect for Bridger. They may be opposites but really bring out the best in each other. I loved the trip to Paris, the toilet gift, and of course the family text messages.
The audiobook is duet narration by Vanessa Vasquez and Jason Clarke. These two were the voices for Bridger and Emilia. The banter was top tier and lots of laughter from all the antics. I really loved this audiobook performance.
Perfect enemies to lovers vibe

🎧📚🎧 Laura Pavlov always has the ideal narrators for her characters, and Jason Clarke and Vanessa Vasquez, both superbly gifted, perfectly voiced each character. I loved how they took their roles and owned them, sounding believable and just as I pictured them to sound. Clarke nailed it as a perfect grump, Bridger, embodying his personality completely, and Vasquez did the same in Emilia’s role and was just as amazing. Both were fabulous at performing the roles of the side/secondary characters, the young ones included. They set the perfect tone for the story, handled the witty dialogue and back-and-forth banter effortlessly, landing the humor naturally and with ease. You could hear how much heart they put into their performance as they captured and conveyed all the characters’ emotions in their performance. Listening to these entertaining storytellers is enjoyable, and their engaging performance holds your attention.

Bridger Chadwick is the grumpy member of the Chadwick family and has no problem being that. Losing his birth mother in a traumatic way has left an impression on his everyday life and how he sees himself. He doesn’t trust easily and that includes Emilia Taylor. There is an anonymous person who writes the gossip column for the local paper and he’s convinced it’s her since her family owns the newspaper. Emilia isn’t the writer and goes to great lengths to prove him wrong. Bridge rarely apologizes and he sends a pricey gift instead of saying the word. Emilia knows her worth and makes him work for it. In an effort to grow her career, she starts her own interior design business and Bridger is her first client with an unlimited budget. The two might have started out as enemies but as they spend time together, they realize that there is more there than they thought.
I have been waiting for Bridger’s story since the first book because I love a grumpy man that meets his match with a sunshine woman. Bridger is grumpy, smart but cares so much despite the trauma he had when he was just a baby. It was completely out of his control but he held it so close to him. Emilia is kind, caring and I loved how she found herself in this book. She was running her family’s floral shop, made it into even greater business but was not thanked properly for it by her parents. Her mom… that woman was testing my patience and she’s not even my mom. Bridger and Emilia had great banter and I kept shaking my head at these two in a good way. The chemistry was there and I couldn’t wait for them to figure it out. I loved that Paris brought them together when they went to see something she wanted for his house. And when he found out it was her dream to go there, he extended the trip so she could truly experience the city. They had a slow burn to them figuring out their feelings but it was so worth the wait. Emilia wanted forever and Bridger needed to work on himself before he could even think about something more than just a random hookup. I loved how he worked on himself so he could be the person she deserved. I loved the ending and I can’t wait for the next book.
Jason Clarke and Vanessa Vasquez narrated in duet and they did an amazing job bringing this story to life. Jason’s narration was growly, caring and vulnerable just like Bridger. Vanessa was perfect as Emilia. She brought her caring and sweet personality alive perfectly.
Swoony, heartfelt and sweet
