Annalisa arrives at Rochester Manor, expecting a quiet job as a governess. Instead, she’s drawn into a dark and dangerous affair with her mysterious employer, Edward Rochester.
By day, Mr. Rochester is distant and formal. By night, he claims her body with a hunger that borders on savage. The more Annalisa succumbs to his touch, the more she realizes he’s hiding something far worse than his depraved appetite. Strange noises, locked doors, and buried secrets leave her questioning not just her lover but if she’ll make it out of Rochester Manor alive.
Caught in a web of lust, deception, and psychological unraveling, Annalisa must confront the horrifying truth about the man she cannot resist before it destroys her.
Dark. Erotic. Twisted. This spicy psychological thriller will grip you from the first minute to the last shocking twist. Duet narration.

Final thoughts: I am so torn with this one. On the one hand, the ending of the book was such a great twist for me that it almost made me forget the things that I disliked. My biggest issue was the exaggerated and repetitive thoughts and inner monologues that made it difficult for me to overall enjoy this. The last probably 30% of the book was a lot better than everything leading up to it. But it was still so overt, like some sentences literally repeating themselves within a couple of pages as if the author forgot they already wrote that, so for these reasons, I give this a maybe as a recommendation since I know there’s going to be people that can overlook these things I’ve mentioned and simply enjoy the story for its dark and suspenseful nature.
I listened to this as an audiobook and thought the narrators did a good job. The male narrator provided a dark undertone to his voice which fit the MMC perfectly. The female narrator was okay. Her voice was a little annoying at times, but she did evoke a lot of the emotion that the character needed when dealing with some of the very strange circumstances of the story.
Mixed feelings 🤷♀️
