Raven Monroe

I think I always knew I was going to die young. Like I had this… silent, invisible clock ticking down to my final moments plastered above my head. Maybe that’s why I was so reckless, crazy. Why I sought after adventure. Why nothing scared me… Except, there was always this… feeling I couldn’t shake that something was in the darkest parts of every corner, under every bed, closet, or room, like a ghost watching me. Waiting to take me. My own, personal reaper.

But it was always only during a lightning storm that I could see the outline of my reaper. No scythe. Just a tall, faceless shadow in a hood, staring at me in the dark…

That was the thing though. It was never the storm itself that scared me. Never the loud booming of thunder. Never the howling wind or the way the windows rattled. Never the sound of rain pounding against said windows. It was just that goddamn lightning.

Seems fitting, I suppose, that I’d die before my twentieth birthday during a freak lightning storm of the century… I just always thought I’d die while doing something dangerous—F*ck it. I’d even take a boring death like simply dying in my sleep from a brain aneurysm or even an early onset heart attack.

Anything.

I’d take any other way other than this...

I love this book. This book was great. This book was a wild roller coaster that I just had to be on. When I got to about an hour left in the book I was scared to stop it, but I forced myself to listen to it. Damn, damn is all I can say to the ending!!! I need the second book immediately😭

Sofia Paloma left Raven's dad because he was a drunk, who later died in a car accident by his own actions. She married John Moore, who adopted Raven at age 12 when her father died. (incidentally, who knew not everybody liked Justin Beavers 😁). Raven, a month older than Axle her step brother, and they
seem to have a good relationship, unlike her and her parents, particularly her mother. When Raven was brutally attacked at the University by five people: one girl, and four boys, bearing the initials, A, T, S
and .. She recognized their voices, but they wore masks they never thought she were going to survived this ordeal , and with the help with Alex, the university custodian she did! About the main characters: Raven, not necessarily "good", she is so sick and some of her behaviors did not justified most of her actions, especially her sexual interludes. Dr. Damien Archer, couldn't help falling in love with a very vulnerable patient, that aside from her brother, Axle was ignored, neglected and unappreciated by a very shallow mother. Aside, from all his stalking ways and consumed craziness, had good intentions as it pertains to Raven. I liked him! Jonas, at first I did not liked (I thought he was to no good) then I realized he was probably the best for Raven, to the point, it came across as if he was the real victim. Chase, was not the best friend, portrayed. He did not trust Raven, and while had started to plot against Raven with his
twin, Raven got the best of him and got him first by creating the illusion he drowned. NOTE: One can say he was collateral damage. A means to an end. Professor Maverick Harrington, a very crude, abusive man. lacks compassion, and calls her derogatory names, like, tongungles, mute and the like, never liked this character. The narrators. Both, Heather Firth and Zoe Arden were stellar, as expected. The writer did a terrific job, developing the plots as well as the characters. Lastly, This ended as a cliffhanger, DO NOT LET IT BE SO, YOU LET ME WANTING

SPOILER ALERT! POETIC JUSTICE???
