From the author of the infamous "Hub Trilogy" comes a new disturbing glimpse at a cruel world's possible future.

Martin and Sonia's child, Stevie, needs a liver transplant. But in this cruel world, unless you're rich enough to go private, the only way they're going to get one is if Stevie enters The Arena with other sickly children and steps out victorious.

This will make you uncomfortable, this will make you question things in this very world we live in now. But ultimately, this is going to take your heart, rip it out, and stamp on it.

I have read a handful of Shaw’s work. This was a relatable and painful story that I didn’t expect from him. I think it could be my favorite. Well done.

I didn’t know if I wanted to finish it because I kept thinking of my kids. I think that because it’s short, it was almost bearable, but because it’s short, I knew the pain would be coming quick.

Damn, that was heartbreaking

Just when you think you know what to expect from Matt Shaw, he completely rearranges your assumptions. He still visits "the killing floor" but not in the way you would expect. Instead of the straight forward gore other extreme horror authors rely on Matt used a horror we all have, and fear, the human condition. Well done.

Also, I'm not sure who the creepy fucker is that you got to read this but kudos.

Matt Shaw, you brilliant bastard!
