Gabby McAllister does not take calls from Lacey Aniston. Not after everything high school put her through. Not after the humiliations, the cruelty, the years of being made to feel like the town freak by the one person who seemed to take personal pleasure in it.
But Lacey's younger sister is missing. And desperation makes people pick up the phone and call the last person they ever expected to need.
Gabby answers. Not because she forgives Lacey. Not because the old wounds have healed. But because her gift does not allow her to walk away from someone in need — no matter how much that someone once hurt her.
What begins as a reluctant missing persons case unravels into something far darker. Each vision pulls Gabby, Dustin, and Lucas closer to a truth none of them are prepared for — a past that none of them want to face, a danger that is not content to stay in the shadows, and a connection between Lacey and Gabby that is far more complicated than either of them knows.
Finding Lacey's sister will test everything — justice, loyalty, trust, and the fragile bonds that hold Gabby's world together.
Because this time the danger is not just out there.
It is coming for all of them.
And after this case, nothing in River Bend will ever be the same.
Book 6 of 9 in the bestselling Messages of Murder series. The series arc shifts dramatically here — this is the case that changes everything.

I liked the story line, thr AI narrator was terrible. Inflections were all wrong g and you sometimes could not tell who the character talking was supposed to be.

Nice story, but narration by AI was terrible!

This is the third book I have read in this series (or maybe fourth). I am over Gabby acquiescing to the “mean “ people around her. Time for her to put on her big girl pants and tell the people around her “No”.
Also, the ending was very abrupt.
Probably won’t read another book in the series even though I really like the plot overall.

Shame based character
