Damien was a simple man, cruising on the highway of life. A goddess of temptation lures him into a deal he scoffs at. To him, superstition is for the foolish. Small problem: she's real, her ritual works, and Damien is magically teleported into a strange new realm.

He awakens in Nordan, a land of myth and magic. A realm where humans battle legendary creatures for the amusement of the gods. In a war between man and myth. Damien's powers set him above the rest, a lord of life and death—enemy of all. Stranded, but not alone, will he perish, or conquer his way home?

This is a great series and first book. While the MC does a great job world and character building book 1 is MASSIVE. It could easily be 2 or 3 books. Definitely get your money/credit worth. I look forward to the next one

Great first book

There are times when I imagined myself in the world. The world build is decent. The characters are as well. I assume Landon is the guy, and Erin is the gal narrator. His is "good". You can tell most the guy characters apart. It's obvious that he's simply reading the lines at times. Def some mid areas. But she has 3 different voices (at best). And she fails to stay consistent. I don't know who is saying what at times. Unless it specifically states who is speaking each line. I will not be in a hurry to get anything she solo narrates. 1 of her voices is a sad attempt to sound southern. Which she fails at miserably. I actually was happy that there would be both; so that the 2 genders would sound better. I thought it would make it more immersive. I think Landon would of done a better job doing this one solo.

The length is great. It gives time to get to know the characters better. There is a good job done at trying to flesh them out. Though... it felt like the story just jumped ahead for no reason, more than once. Decent antagonists. The MC is pretty decent. All in all: it's a solid 3 stars. Not sure about replayability. The stats isn't overwhelming. A def plus imo. But it kept me interested enough to start book 2. I'm hoping for a LOT more out of Books 2 & 3. Some twist that makes some of the mid parts make sense.

It is NOT worth full price. Not by any means. But there is some areas of the story that are more unique. It didn't follow what I expected 100% of the time. Most of it is pretty predictable though. So don't expect your mind to be blown in book 1. But if you are a LitRPG fan (or like me: an Isekai fan) it's worth listening to. At least once. This one would be a great choice for the Plus catalog. It's more than good enough to introduce someone new to the genera. And it's not good enough to make everything else pale in comparison within the genera. solid as an introduction into it though. But that's the only way it would be perceived as more than just mid+ at the most.

mid to mid+

There's a lot of good here. Like one major resource being responsible for upgrading and improving. The other main female characters make the cast, especially Belle. There's a lot of interesting things here but I don't think it totally comes together.

It's alright.
