A bad-boy NFL star meets his match in a feisty single mom with this sweet, steamy, and emotional novel about second chances and breaking the rules of romance.

Raising my ten-year-old son, running an animal rescue, and caring for my grandfather leaves zero time for complications, let alone cocky athletes who get under my skin. Too bad the universe didn’t get the memo.

Because a big complication just crashed into my life—literally—in the form of towering NFL quarterback Archer Evans, sentenced to community service at my shelter after a scandal. Despite his mistakes, I try not to judge. He’s got demons of his own, and even though he’s made it perfectly clear he wants me, the last thing he needs is a wary single mom seeing the vulnerable man beneath the muscles and the attitude.

Though I’ll admit, I’m tempted to look.

Not that I’d cave. With his notoriety, Archer would never make it past date two of my eight-date rule. I want simple. Safe. He’s too successful. Too arrogant. Too everything. The definition of complicated.

But as the walls around Archer start to crumble, so do mine. And this complication feels suspiciously like love.

I made the rules. Maybe it’s time I broke them.

…meanwhile all I’m doing is falling in love! What a sweet story about finding love in the midst of pain and trauma; loss and longing. It’s a slowwwww burn that is worth the wait as we see these characters grow. They grow individually but also as a couple and before you know it, your own heart is growing more in love with each page turn. Enjoyed the narrators as well. The husky voice and the sweet. Excellent job!

I have loved every book in this series so far and How Not to Fall in Love is no exception! It's the slowest of slow burns, but it's all about the journey. Bad boy football player and the single mom. His reputation isn't the best and he's sentenced to community service at shelter. Love the relationship with his sister and his protectiveness of her.

I knew the minute we were introduced to Archer Evans in Single Dad Dilemma, I knew he would be a great bad boy with a redemption story. Paired with a single mom in Remi who wanted nothing to do with him was exactly the story I wanted.

This one did not make me cry (unlike Single Dad Dilemma) but there were moments where as a mom, my heart hurt.

Karla has done it again. She writes such beautiful love stories with characters that feel so real. Her writing style is honest and filled with both heart and humor that I love every time.

The narration. CJ Bloom and Stephen Dexter are perfect for this story. Remi has this frazzled, single-mom, taking care of everyone and everything personality that both narrators do so well. And as much as you want to not like Archer from before, when you hear his POV, I want to hug him to make it all better.

Tropes:
-single mom
-bad boy
-football player
-forced proximity
-he falls first

🎧AUDIO REVIEW🎧

OHHH ARCHER!!!! We got a glimpse of Archer in Single Dad and could see that he had some serious issues. OMG, his story was amaze balls! Remi is someone I could wholeheartedly get behind. I have been involved in dog rescue for years, so seeing someone in the rescue world get a front and center story was something I absolutely loved. Shining even a tiny light on the thankless work of dog rescue is something that I think everyone should do more of.

Archer completely blew me away with why he was the way he was. The person he is under the layers is someone I fell for immediately. The way he analyzes himself and why he does what he does was a lot of reflecting. I loved how he was willing to break himself before hurting Remi. These two were everything! And throw in an amazing kiddo to seal the deal! This was a great story!

Stephen Dexter and CJ Bloom narrate this one and did such a great job. They brought depth to these characters and so much emotion. There were a few scenes that moved me to tears. Great job!

In love with this story!
