Zoey never imagined the man she once loved would become her worst nightmare.

Trapped in a gilded cage on a remote compound, she endures the escalating violence of George, a powerful alpha shifter who controls every aspect of her life. But when George’s fury turns lethal, Zoey realizes she must escape—for herself and her young son, Roland.

With the help of her family, Zoey embarks on a perilous journey, fleeing from the man who once promised to love her. From hiding in motels to outsmarting her abuser at every turn, Zoey is determined to break free, no matter the cost.

In the quiet town of Boldercrest, Zoey finds refuge—and something she never expected: Noah Alexander, a former champion boxer and the town’s new gym owner. The moment their eyes meet, everything changes. Noah is more than just a man of strength and power—he’s her fated mate, and he will stop at nothing to protect her.

But even in a town shielded by a pack of shifters, the shadows of Zoey’s past threaten to destroy everything she’s fought for. With George on her trail and danger closing in, Zoey must face the demons of her past and trust in a love that promises both healing and danger.

Can she outrun the monster who wants to claim her? Or will the truth of who she is—and who she’s meant to be—save her from the nightmare that’s haunted her for so long?

Healed in the Alpha’s Embrace is both parts of the Wolves of Boldercrest Duology, a story of survival, fated love, and the healing power of knowing you’re worth fighting for.

I really wanted to like this. The story was promising. The narration wasn’t bad but was not my favorite by a long shot. I typically read along while I listen to the audiobooks I purchase. So seeing the words as well as listening, the story almost seemed like AI stepped in to help or something? It just lacked overall. Definitely needed a male narrator for the MMC pov.

Slight spoiler mentioned below

At the end of book one the FMC has been made aware of the fated mate situation and it was acknowledged between the 2 main characters.
Then in book 2 the fated mate situation was made a secret again?
There was some OWD (besides the OMD and main plot of the story) that was building like something could come of it. Maybe the FMC proves herself or similar. But according to Amazon reviews nothing comes of it. I can forgive simple editing errors. Seemed like author could benefit from better or more beta readers and/or editors?
After all the repetition, lack of follow through with story and the spice was meh…. I just couldn’t finish. Which is sad as there was so much potential for this to be a dark PNR turned HEA.

Ugh. I hate that I DNF

SPOILERS

This book had the potential to be great; however, it missed the mark. So, the father of her son as a horrible Alpha but he was not big nor did he fight well. Yet he always seemed to be one step ahead of the new bigger, better Alpha who should have great situational awareness as he was one of the best boxers in the world. She joined the pack and was under pack protection but there was no protection at all in the beginning. He never tried to do anything when "grandpa" had the boy. Also, she was always blaming herself. I get that as it was beaten into her however, there needs to be growth. Her reverting to that every time made me not like her at all. Also, what kind of pack of wolves does not notice that there are other wolves in their territory until its too late. They are all wolves. You talked about pack life but there was really no depth on that. Lastly there are so many ways to hurt someone. Why did you choose to shoot him twice. You made this alpha look like a punk.
