A competitive diver and an ace swimmer jump into forbidden waters in this steamy college romance from the New York Times bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis.

Scarlett Vandermeer is swimming upstream. A Junior at Stanford and a student-athlete who specializes in platform diving, Scarlett prefers to keep her head down, concentrating on getting into med school and on recovering from the injury that almost ended her career. She has no time for relationships—at least, that’s what she tells herself.

Swim captain, world champion, all-around aquatics golden boy, Lukas Blomqvist thrives on discipline. It’s how he wins gold medals and breaks records: complete focus, with every stroke. On the surface, Lukas and Scarlett have nothing in common. Until a well-guarded secret slips out, and everything changes.

So they start an arrangement. And as the pressure leading to the Olympics heats up, so does their relationship. It was supposed to be just a temporary, mutually satisfying fling. But when staying away from Lukas becomes impossible, Scarlett realizes that her heart might be treading into dangerous water...

Editorial Review

I dove headfirst into this listen
After that headline I will try to keep my water puns to a minimum, but let me just say that someone may need to douse you with ice water after listening to Ali Hazelwood’s latest. Deep End has all the brainy chemistry (physical and otherwise) I’ve come to love and expect from Hazelwood’s novels ... with a healthy dose of BDSM tossed in. Stanford diving star Scarlett Vandermeer has been laser-focused on coming back from a season-ending injury and getting herself into med school. Romance, relationships, even friendships don’t really factor into that equation. Swim captain and world champion Lukas Blomqvist is similarly focused, until a secret thrusts Lukas and Scarlett together, and their mutual attraction bubbles to the surface (sorry, last one). Performed by Thérèse Plummer with Ben Holtzmuller, Deep End is filled with STEMinist energy, a few Easter eggs for longtime fans, and enough steam to quench your thirst[traps] this Valentine’s season. —Katie O., Audible Editor

Oh the way I fell in love with Lukas right at the start 🫣 I need some time to let this story marinade but wow, easily going to be a top book from me this year!! Really enjoyed the full length story opposed to the shorter books we usually get from Ali.

Plus excellent casting for the voices!!

Another Ali banger

Honestly this was a great story. Loved every second could not get enough. It was hard sometimes listening to her try to overcome her mental health because you just wanted to give her a hug. She was very relatable and I liked that about the character. Loner at parties looking for a place to just breathe. And him. He was just so there and so patient and really opened up to her. I really liked the evolution of the characters.

I love this book. It was so lovely and funny. I hope there’s more of it.

Nothing stood out. Everything was perfect.

I loved the whole dynamic of this book. A swimmer, a diver, same college, from different countries, Olympics, Med School. These are definitely physically and mentally strong people. Yet they are also people with the same worries and insecurities as anyone else.

Much has been said about this book, I won't rehash the plot. The duet narration was excellent Ben is new to me and I loved it. Therese is always a pleasure.
You'll enjoy the wit and the spice and even some of the science!
