Mitch Rapp—“the most badass character in print today” (The Real Book Spy)—faces an Iranian foe bent on destabilizing the Middle East in this thriller from Vince Flynn’s #1New York Timesbestselling series, now written by Don Bentley.

April 2011: On a remote mountaintop overlooking the remains of the Iranian nuclear weapons program, Azad Ashani witnesses the successful demonstration of a new weapons system meant to upend the American-led war in Afghanistan. Ashani, director of the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence and Security and Irene Kennedy’s former back channel to the Iranian government, recognizes the demonstration’s true significance, and the nation-ending conflict it will provoke. Alone, Ashani stands no chance of preventing this rush to madness.

But with the help of one man, he just might.

In Washington, DC, CIA director Irene Kennedy briefs the president that the operational window to kill or capture Osama bin Laden at his recently discovered compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan is rapidly closing. But before he’ll authorize a commando raid on Pakistani soil, the president demands irrefutable proof of bin Laden’s presence.

Proof he trusts just one man to provide.

Preventing a looming war in the Middle East while delivering justice for the nearly 3,000 Americans killed on 9/11 would be a big ask for anyone, but Mitch Rapp isn’t just anyone in this high-octane thriller that is perfect for “action junkies” (Kirkus Reviews).

I have been a fan of the Mitch Rapp series since the first book but I'm sorry this new reader just didn't do it for me and the overall story was good but not on par with the other books. I truly hope the new author will Improve and they will get a different reader.

Disappointed

Great job with the storyline. I really liked the way this book fits in between others to create a new storyline.

Nice work!

Great story

I enjoyed Don’s first take on Mitch Rapp’s story. I thought this was a fun way to enter the game and bring us back to the Terrorist Hunter we all know. I do have one criticism, and it more of the structure of the writing. Don gets very descriptive in the middle of multiple important scenes; using all kinds of similes and metaphors in the middle of important dialog or action scenes. Often leading me to think, ‘get to the point’. Felt like a lot unnecessary fluff. This aside, I still really enjoyed the story and thought it was another great Mitch Rapp story.

For everyone wishing we still had George Guidell, I am right there with you. He was a legend for the Rapp series. I thought the narrator did an okay job here though. My criticism of the fluff certainly translates to a more dull tone in narration, which I do not blame the narrator for. However, if we want to feel the same intensity that George brought to Mitch Rapp, we need to petition for Ray Porter to do the narrations of Mitch Rapp.

Good Start, Don
