Ilea likes punching things. And eating.

Unfortunately, there aren’t too many career options for hungry brawlers. Instead, the plan is to quit her crappy fast-food job, go to college, and become a fully functioning member of society. Essentially—a fate worse than death.

So maybe it's lucky that she wakes up one day in a strange world where a bunch of fantasy monsters are trying to kill her?

On the bright side, "killing those monsters right back" is now a viable career path! For she soon discovers her new home runs on a set of game-like rules that will allow her to punch things harder than in her wildest dreams. Well, maybe not her wildest dreams, but it’s close.

With no quest to follow, no guide to show her the way, and no real desire to be a Hero—Ilea embarks on a journey to discover a world full of magic. Magic she can use to fight even bigger monsters.

She’s struggling to survive, has no idea what will happen next, and is loving every minute of it. Except, and sometimes also, when she’s poisoned and/or has set herself on fire. It’s complicated.

Listen to the story that took Royal Road by storm with more than 60 million views and counting.

The part with Roland I found to be dirty and kind of tainted the book. Was not even remotely a fan of that stuff. skipped chapters 31 and 32. I felt this promiscuity was pushed where it didn't need to be at all.

Great except....

Our girl becomes more op. And is slightly crazy. Great book, can't wait for #2.

Great!

Why is the main character feeling depressed and over the top guilty over people she barely knows dying? She didn’t kill them. She didn’t cause their deaths. She fought hard to save these strangers. Feeling sad for their deaths, sure . But guilty? Blaming herself? Unfortunately it’s something I’ve noticed in a lot of books. Great book . Looking forward to book two. Hope character grows matures more emotionally. She has plenty of problems. Feeling guilty over things you have no control over is weird. Feel sad and move on

Great but

That finds Andrea Parsneau’s high pitched tones extremely grating? Seriously, she is a great narrator 75% of the time. But the other 25% are nearly unbearable! Azarinth Healer will have a lot (A LOT) of level ups and she decides to use a tone that is very obnoxious.

I’d love it if she gets replaced by literally anyone else.

Am I the only one…

I felt rewarded! One of the best female narrators in the business! Great all around.
