Maya Shanbhag Lang was born in Queens, New York to Indian immigrant parents. She is the author of What We Carry, a New York Times Editors' Choice and a Best Book of the Year according to "Good Morning America," Amazon, PopSugar, and others. Her debut novel, The Sixteenth of June, was long listed for the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize. Her essays have appeared in New York Magazine, The Washington Post, Goop, Times of India, and various anthologies. She lives in Sleepy Hollow, New York.
