Juan Gabriel León Hernández (Bogotá, Colombia, August 9, 1976) is a contemporary fiction author whose work explores the human mind, fear, and the limits of identity. He has devoted much of his professional life to science, research, and university teaching. He holds a Ph.D. in Earth, Environmental and Space Sciences from the Paul Sabatier University (France) and a Master’s degree in Water Sciences in Continental Environments from the University of Montpellier II. He has served as Associate Professor and Dean at the National University of Colombia, where he led academic and student well-being initiatives, particularly during the emotional crisis triggered by the pandemic. It was within that context that he began a deep personal exploration into emotional management, meditation, and the internal mechanisms that shape human behavior. Rather than becoming a doctrine, this experience evolved into narrative material. His stories explore what is not always visible: the internal structures that condition our decisions, the narratives we construct to sustain ourselves, and the invisible mechanisms that shape our perception of reality. Through a narrative style that blends psychological tension with existential inquiry, his work invites readers to engage with discomfort rather than avoid it. In Iluminación, his first published work, he presents an introspective journey that confronts the roots of human behavior. He is currently working on The Eighth Sphere, a novel that delves into the architecture of fear as a tool of control and the fragmentation of identity under extreme conditions. His writing does not seek to provide answers, but to raise questions that linger beyond the final page.
