“He was chosen. She was promised. Both were caged.”

Their worlds were never meant to collide. But obsession doesn't follow rules. And some games were never meant to be played clean. In a University where power is currency and silence is survival, playing dirty might be the only way to win.

This story featured rich girl x poor boy, a secret society, enemies to lovers, and a murder mystery. The narration was great, but the story just didn’t capture my attention, despite being like a Dear Reader/That Sik Luv/PLL/Gossip Girl mash up. I’m not sure if I will continue this series

This dark academia novel delivered exactly the kind of atmosphere readers of the genre look for — secret societies, morally gray characters, obsessive devotion, and an undercurrent of emotional trauma woven throughout the story. Luna K. Wicked excels at creating tension and crafting emotionally intense relationships, particularly with the possessive MMC, whose presence carried much of the novel’s darker appeal.

Anthony Palmini’s performance was amazing . He brought depth, intensity, and charisma to the MMC in a way that made the character incredibly compelling. His narration added emotional weight and helped anchor the darker themes of the book beautifully. Shiloh James’ performance fit the vulnerability of the character and brought a sense of fragility that highlighted the FMCs inner turmoil.

Overall, this was an enjoyable listen with strong atmosphere, addictive relationship dynamics, and emotionally heavy themes that fans of trauma-centered romance will likely appreciate.

PS- Read/listen to the trigger warnings. This one isn’t for everyone.

This is a dark and emotional sports romance. A little lighter than other Luna books I have read but absolutely still dark so check those triggers.

This one captured me right from the start and I couldn't stop reading. Sweet baby Nico, I just love him so much, want to hug him (really just all the boys). And Shiloh, loved to hate her at first but then fell in love with her too through all the mess and the secrets and lies.

This one will keep you on your toes, you will laugh, cry, scream. And you will want more stories from this world.

I am so lucky to have been able to immersive read this thanks to an ALC from BNA. It is narrated by Shiloh James & Anthony Palmini and y'all know Anthony, he brought everything to our MMC Nico. Shiloh gave so much depth to our FMC (also named Shiloh). Absolutely recommend this one on audio.

The audio book for Play Dirty was amazing! Duet narration and both narrators were cast perfectly

At first with how the book was playing out, I had to think about if I really wanted to continue reading this. The book is dark. I wasn't expecting a lot of what happened. I almost dnf'd, but I trucked through a little further and I'm glad I did. The plot got much better and a little suspenseful. I loved the twist at the end of the book. The spice between the FMC and MMC was really good. However the dark parts the MMC went through were not my favorite and are what almost made me DNF this book. Regardless, I listened to the ARC of this book and both narrators did a really great job. All the characters were very distinct and easy to tell who was who. Anthony Palmini always does a great job as a narrator in my opinion. This was the first time I listened to Shiloh James and I can say that I am really excited to listen to more books narrated by her.

The plot twist!
