  • Wisdom: Parenting (Part 1) - Formed by Culture or by Christ?
    Mar 31 2026

Join Benjamin and Christina this week as they discuss the topic of parenting. In a world shaped by competing parenting philosophies, what does the Bible have to say about parenthood?

In this first part of a two-part series, they explore common approaches—authoritarian, gentle, permissive, and more—and contrast them with a biblical framework rooted in both wisdom and the gospel.

Grounded in Ephesians 6:4, the Gees outline seven core principles that shape their family and how they aim to train their children:

    • Discipline
    • Instruction
    • Submission
    • Perserverance
    • Stewardship
    • Grace
    • Love

In Part 1, the focus is on the first three: discipline, instruction, and submission. They discuss discipline as loving training that establishes life-giving boundaries, instruction as forming both understanding and faith, and submission as a foundational posture toward God-ordained authority.

Throughout the episode, they reflect on how these principles play out in the early years of parenting, and how they prepare children for what lies ahead.

Part 2 will continue with perseverance, stewardship, grace, and love.

Join Benjamin and Christina this week as they welcome pastor, church planter, and author Nino Marques to the podcast for a conversation on biblical church membership and what it means to truly belong to a local church. Drawing from Scripture and pastoral experience, Nino explains the difference between simply attending church and truly belonging to a biblical, Spirit-filled church community.
