  • Issue 133: Engel Pandoramicum
    Jun 3 2026

This week we're taking flight with our most niche comic yet, Engel: Pandoramicum. Originally designed to promote a German RPG, the comic expands one of the most fascinating tabletop settings of a fallen future with mixed results.

  • Dollar Bin Discoveries: Prismatic Power Edition
    May 27 2026

This week, we're channeling Prismatic Power with two comics that couldn’t be more different.

Mike suffered through Judgement Day #1 from Lightning Comics, while Jessika uncovered adventure and mysticism in Indiana Jones and the Spear of Destiny #4. One shines with pulpy treasure-hunting energy. The other mostly shines because of the foil cover. Guess which is which.

  • Dollar Bin Discoveries: Ooey-Gooey Edition
    May 20 2026

This week’s Dollar Bin Discoveries get Ooey Gooey with two very different kinds of comic-book sludge. Jessika dove into Warriors of Plasm #1 for a heap of malleable alien weirdness, while Mike checked out Captain America #395 (featuring the unforgettable “The House That Dripped Dough!”)

Sometimes the goo is cosmic. Sometimes it’s pastry-related.

Mike and Jessika take turns researching and informing the other party about weird, specific, and niche comics. That's the substance. It's like finding out one of your friend's has a rabbit hole's worth of intel on a specific thing you don't know about and there is (for me and many other geeks) a very specific joy that comes with exploring such things. M&J also have a couple of fun check-in segments at the top and bottom of the show that expand to larger geeky topics and goings-on. As their blurb says: "Come for the history, stay for the swearing." I also keep returning to hear Mike's varaitions on their introductions, like saying they "throw elbows and natural 1s" or like calling Jessika the "Cleric of chaos." That in and of itself should give you a good vibe check for how this podcast rolls (figuratively and literally). Deep cuts and hot takes abound. Also, LOVE the theme music.

What I particularly enjoy about Jessika and Mike’s show, is that they talk about comics and pop culture in such a thoughtful and well researched way, that it makes their bi-weekly topics very accessible. Even to someone like me who is definitely novice when it comes to comic book history.

A well made, accessible listen for any fan of comics and pop culture!
