  • Episode 18: Wake Up Deadman: A Knives Out Mystery
    Dec 31 2025

It's time! Let's find out who dunnit with Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery! Nick brings his entire Catholic upbringing to analyze the ins and outs of this mystery. Chris rants about an incredibly meta prediction he had early on in the film that may have ruined the entire experience for him. So...it's an episode.

  • Episode 16 - Brick
    Dec 17 2025

We're building up to discussing Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery and this week Nick's suggested we take a look at Rian Johnson's first film, I think it's the first film(?), Brick. How can I describe Brick? Have you ever thought about being a teenager...but then been like, "Yo...what if everything was black and white and I was a detective and I had to solve a murder and the Vice Principle was the cops?" Well, other than the black and white thing...that's this film!

Will it play a role in how we view the new Knives Out film? Only one way to find out!

  • Episode 15 - Murder on the Orient Express (1974)
    Dec 10 2025

We're starting our next cycle with a classic! It's time for Sidney Lumet's classic take on Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express.

Chris took a wild guess in trying to find an early version of a detective mystery (definitely not early) which he hoped might inform about Rian Johnson's thoughts on the upcoming Knives Out film (nailed it here). Nick said he'd seen this movie a million times only to later admit he'd watched the 2017 version and never heard of Sidney Lumet. Will they argue? Only one way to find out!

  • Planning Cycle 4
    Dec 1 2025

We're back with another planning episode! This time around we're going to be looking into one of those awesome murder mysteries with Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. Man these movies are good! I can't wait to see it. We'll be waiting to discuss it until the film is out on Netflix on December 12th so we'll have some time to get prepped. Listen in for more about why we're picking them but for this cycle we'll be discussing:

Murder on the Orient Express (1974)

    Brick

    (the other Knives out films...maybe...probably?)

  • Episode 14: Frankenstein (2025)
    Nov 19 2025

It's out and we've watched it! Netflix has finally launched our long awaited Frankenstein film, directed by Guillermo del Toro so we're gonna talk about it!

With out this week is a special guest! We're joined by film maker Eriq Ortiz, noted fan of the director and our "person who actually did the homework" by reading the book. He's an amazing addition for this episode as we look at the beautiful techniques and cinematography that went into the movie. Oh, and Nick and Chris are both here as well.
