  • Falling Down (1993) Review - Old Man Orange Podcast 717
    Apr 10 2026

Spencer and Dave are going back with a Vintage Cinema Review of the 1993 classic comedy and average man vigilante film, Falling Down. From Director Joel Schumacher. All about a man out of time, in an America that has lost its core values and how he has finally had his breaking point and is not going to take it anymore!

Falling Down follows William “D‑Fens” Foster, an unemployed and increasingly unstable man who abandons his car in a Los Angeles traffic jam and attempts to walk across the city to see his daughter on her birthday. As he encounters everyday frustrations—bureaucracy, economic inequality, crime, and social tensions—his reactions escalate from irritation to violence, turning his journey into a dark, satirical portrait of a man who believes the world has wronged him. Meanwhile, a retiring police sergeant (Robert Duvall) begins to piece together Foster’s path, closing in as the day spirals toward an inevitable confrontation.

  • You Will Die Here Tonight - Review - Silent Evil Podcast 28
    Apr 8 2026

Spencer and Cameron are diving in to discuss the indie survival horror game from 2023; You Will Die Here Tonight. It takes that graphic isometric overhead look of the Diablo, with a knockoff but good Resident Evil 1 story and setting and then combines in a House of the Dead like shooting segment with every encounter.

So much variety in one gaming experience. And even though it is kind of a rip off to the core of RE, it still has an interesting story, with a trapped in a cloning simulation twist on the Biohazard world. The characters are fun and you will see them die often like it says in the title. But at least they give you lives for that aspect, along with achievements that lessen the impact of failure in life. Which also reminds us of a lot like the French game, Zombi. Filled with some nice puzzles, neat graphics, and the right length story experience that doesn't end up dragging on beyond its welcome. Which has a high chance of being an indie game pitfall and not knowing when to cut and trim your game down for proper pacing.

Overall, it's defiantly a special and unique experience that any fan of the classic horror games will appreciate. Grab this on PC and hopefully sometime soon on consoles.

So, come join us for the run through retrospective discussion, as we deep dive into the lore, gameplay mechanics, and give a retro review on our modern experience. Let us know your thoughts on the game, survival horror titles, and what we should play next.

  • The Last Temptation of Christ (1988) Movie Review - Old Man Orange Podcast 715
    Mar 30 2026

Spencer and Dave are going back to 1988 and discussing what might be the greatest Jesus movie of all time. The Last Temptation of Christ. Directed by Martin Scorsese, written by Paul Schrader with Willem Dafoe playing Jesus, Barbara Hershey as Mary Magdalene, and the greatest Judas performance ever from Harvey Keitel. Based on the original book from Nikos Kazantzakis.

This story of Jesus really has a grounded, realistic human version of the legend. With some magic and fantasy still there in the epic. But Willem Dafoe makes the carpenter come across as a real fella who is just trying to figure out what is best in life and how exactly to spread the word of love and God right. It's one of those movies that just tells an interesting story and the questioning temptation that may offend the non-open-minded Christians out there who realistically probably are not that good of folks themselves. If one just gets past that, this movie here just delivers on all fronts and is really a hidden gem for everyone involved in making it.

  • Fatal Frame 2 Remake Crimson Butterfly Review - Silent Evil Podcast 27
    Mar 25 2026

Spencer and Cameron are diving into a review and discussion of the new Fatal Frame 2 Crimson Butterfly remake. The new visuals, extra features, and gameplay styles. How this one compares to the previous 3 versions from PS2 to Xbox and Wii.

The game is fantastic, filled will all kinds of ghostly terrors, Japanese ancient fables, and interesting story filled with death, sorrow, and a sisters love to get through the nightmare. Fatal Frame or Project Zero elsewhere, is defiantly a niche experience for a certain audience but it still holds the third tier of survival horror in our books. Only behind the big two of Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Here's hoping for a remake of Fatal Frame 1 and 3 now to complete the new remaster series.

So, come join us for the run through retrospective discussion, as we deep dive into the lore, gameplay mechanics, and give a retro review on our modern experience. Let us know your thoughts on the game, survival horror titles, and what we should play next.

  • Commando (1985) Review - Old Man Orange Podcast 714
    Mar 23 2026

Spencer and Dave are going back to 1985 for a Vintage Cinema Review, to what might be the ultimate Arnold Schwarzenegger movie experience. Of course, Terminator and Conan the Barbarian are his most famous roles, but Commando is everything great about Arnie wrapped in one action filled party. It's got the big explosions, hand to hand combat, guns a blazing, fantastic one liners, and great bad guy characters that feel like proto–Metal Gear Solid like villains. What is not to love here. Plus, the movie is just excellently paced and is always one of the best watches, no matter how many times we have seen it. And we may have a Commando 2 sequel on the horizon. You never know.

The story of Commando is about John Matrix and his daughter Jenny, living a peaceful life in the California mountains after a long stent as a military man. Matrix is retired but just when he thought he was out, they pull him back in. When Bennet (Vernon Wells), an old comrade who was known for flying off the handle, teams up with General Arius who wants Matrix to overthrow the Val Verde government. And to get him to do this they capture his daughter and hold her hostage. Well, the ticking time bomb is off, and John Matrix will stop at nothing to save his daughters life. No matter how much carnage he causes in his wake. Teaming up with Cindy (Rae Dawn Chong) and taking on other great villains like Cooke (Bill Duke) and Sully (David Patrick Kelly). Commando is like the Rambo story if everything went good after Vietnam for him. Though Matrix still has his own Trautman like General, Kirby (James Olson) trying his best to re-enlist him.

Directed by Mark L. Lester and written by comic book legend Jeph Loeb along with Matthew Weisman and Steven E. de Souza who is on like every major action film of the 80s and 90s. A bad ass soundtrack by James Horner, edited by Mark Goldblatt, and produced by none other than Joel Silver. A recipe for the best of the best action credits have to offer.

We also watched the director's cut version which only adds a little more than a minute's worth of bonus scenes in but is well worth it just for a fraction more violence and a couple extended chats between Matrix and Cindy.

  • The Yakuza (1974) Vintage Cinema Review - Old Man Orange Podcast 713
    Mar 16 2026

Spencer and Dave are going back to 1974 (1975 for the USA release) to talk all about the film, The Yakuza. From writer Paul Schrader of Taxi Driver, Rolling Thunder, and Raging Bull to name a few and director Sydney Pollack of Jeremiah Johnson, Out of Africa, and Tootsie comes a master class take on the Japanese gangster drama, made to introduce the culture to American audiences. Sadly, like many of Asian oriented movies of back in the day, didn't make a lot at the American box office but still delivers an almost perfect noir action picture.

Starring Robert Mitchum, Ken Takakura, and Brian Keith. The story is about a group of old WW2 buddies coming back to Japan after their stent in the occupation time and looking for ones missing daughter who they suspect the Yakuza has taken. Robert Mitchum's character Kilmer knows Japan best and even had a romantic fling back in the day to a woman named Eiko, who he also saved from the war torn Tokyo. Her brother, Ken is in his debt to Kilmer, for protecting and helping his sister while he was missing in action post WW2. The lifelong obligation of giri, that can traditionally never be repaid is what he has to help out Kilmer and his friends take on the Yakuza.

The movie is just fantastic, great Japanese set pieces, an excellent jazz like score, and then the brutal action one would expect from a Paul Schrader story. Filled with twists and turns that really sets up this amazing story. Plus, all sorts of Japanese culture references and early education throughout. Cool stuff for anyone raised on manga, anime, and video games.
