• Trusting God in the Chaos (Bonus Episode) - 315

Send Questions or comments here! We'll respond back in future episodes.

Life is rarely hard in just one way at a time. You make it through the storm and then, somehow, you get hit again on the shore. That’s why we’re going to Paul’s most relatable stretch of chaos: a brutal storm, a shipwreck he didn’t choose, an unexpected landing on Malta, and then a snakebite while he’s simply trying to help.

This week, we walk through Acts 27 and Acts 28 with one big idea: you don’t always get a reason, but you can always walk in revelation. Some of what you face isn’t because you did everything wrong. Sometimes it’s the fallout of someone else’s decision. Sometimes it’s an attack that God repurposes. Either way, if we stay trapped in the “why,” we can drown in it. Revelation keeps you anchored to what God has already said: His purpose is still intact, His presence is still near, and your calling is not canceled by the storm.

Malta becomes more than a location. It’s the season you didn’t plan, the relationship shift, the job loss, the lonely stretch, the marriage pressure, the place that feels small and cold and unfamiliar. And the snakebite moment exposes something else: people will rush to label your suffering, but your response matters more than their conclusions. When Paul shakes it off, the very hand that was bitten becomes the hand God uses to bring healing and change a whole island.

If this encouraged you, subscribe, share the episode with someone in a Malta moment, and leave a review so more people can find it. What’s your Malta right now?

  • Isaiah 6:7-13 - Preach Boldly ... Expect Crickets - 314
    Apr 7 2026

Send Questions or comments here! We'll respond back in future episodes.

“Here I am, send me” might be the most quoted line from Isaiah, but we don’t always slow down long enough to read what comes next. We finish Isaiah 6:7-13 by sitting in the aftermath of Isaiah’s cleansing, hearing God’s call, and then facing the sobering reality that Isaiah is sent to people who will listen without understanding and see without perceiving.

We walk verse by verse through the coal from the altar, touching Isaiah’s lips, and connect that picture of atonement to the New Covenant promise of Hebrews 10:10: Jesus Christ offered once for all. That connection helps make sense of Old Testament sacrifice imagery, guilt, forgiveness, and sanctification, and it reminds us that God doesn’t send us out to speak for him without first dealing with what’s going on in us.

Then we tackle the hard part of the commission: spiritual hardening, judgment that leads to desolation and exile, and Isaiah’s honest question, “How long, O Lord?” Even there, God leaves a thread of hope. Isaiah 6 ends with stump-and-seed language, a remnant preserved through fire, pointing forward to restoration and, ultimately, the Messiah Christians see fulfilled in Jesus. If you’ve ever wondered what faithfulness looks like when results are slow or rejection is loud, this chapter has something to say.

  • The Gospel in Marriage Pt 1 (Marriage as a Mission) - 313
    Apr 2 2026

Send Questions or comments here! We'll respond back in future episodes.

Marriage can turn a tiny thing like a kitchen light or a dishwasher into a full-blown standoff, and that’s exactly why it can also become one of the clearest places to see the gospel at work. This week, we dig into how marriage reveals what’s really in us and how grace meets us right in those unfiltered moments. We keep coming back to a simple truth: biblical marriage isn’t mainly about winning, keeping score, or getting your way; it’s about reflecting Christ.

We walk through Ephesians 5 and unpack why the relationship between husband and wife is meant to mirror Christ and the church. That means covenant love instead of a contract mindset, sacrificial love instead of transactions, and daily grace instead of simmering bitterness. We also talk about what forgiveness looks like when it’s not just a nice idea, and why prayer, humility, and servant-hearted love matter most when you feel least like offering them.

Then we get practical. You’ll hear a memorable conflict tool called the “third chair” as a way to remember that Christ is present in your hardest conversations. We also tackle missed expectations and communication, because unspoken expectations can quietly turn into resentment. Finally, we share a realistic marriage scenario that shows how the gospel can reshape tone, timing, and response when the stage is set for another fight.

If you want a gospel-centered marriage that grows in holiness without denying the real mess of life, this one is for you. Subscribe, share this with a couple who needs it, and leave a five-star review so more people can find the show. What’s one small change that would bring more grace into your home this week?

  • Isaiah 6:1-6 - From I Got This to Woe is Me in 0.2 Seconds - 312
    Mar 31 2026

Send Questions or comments here! We'll respond back in future episodes.

Casual worship collapses the moment Isaiah gets a front-row seat to the throne room of heaven. With King Uzziah dead and Judah staring into uncertainty, we open Isaiah 6:1-6 (ESV) and follow the prophet into a temple scene where seraphim fly, smoke fills the room, and “Holy, Holy, Holy” rattles the foundations. That contrast is the point: when life feels unstable, God’s throne is not, and a clearer view of His holiness exposes just how much we’ve tried to keep Him manageable.

We also rewind to 2 Chronicles 26 to understand why Uzziah’s story matters here. A successful king crosses a line in worship, enters the temple to burn incense, and learns that pride and presumption do not survive in holy space. From there, we dig into what Scripture reveals about the seraphim, why their reverence is so intense, and why holiness is the one attribute emphasized with a threefold repetition. We talk through the shaking thresholds, the meaning of the smoke, and how God’s glory is both near and overwhelming.

Isaiah’s response is painfully relatable: “Woe is me… unclean lips.” But the turning point is grace. God sends cleansing to the very place Isaiah thinks disqualifies him, using the burning coal from the altar as a picture of purification and atonement. If you’ve been stuck in self-comparison, spiritual routine, or the fear that your past ruins your usefulness, this passage offers a better order: revelation, conviction, cleansing, then calling. • Origin of Marriage is God's Design, Not Man's Idea Pt 2 (Marriage as a Mission) - 311
    Mar 26 2026

Send Questions or comments here! We'll respond back in future episodes.

Marriage can feel like a daily negotiation: schedules, personalities, money, kids, and yes, the thermostat. But Scripture paints a much bigger picture, and that picture changes everything. We walk through why God’s design for marriage is never just companionship or survival, but a holy covenant meant to reflect God’s own image. When you start seeing marriage as a reflection rather than merely romance, conflict stops being the final word, and commitment stops being conditional.

We go back to Genesis 1 and the “our image” language that points to the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. From there, we connect the dots to practical, everyday married life. You’ll hear why oneness does not erase individuality, how unhealthy dominance and passive absorption quietly crush a spouse’s gifts, and why a godly marriage honours both unity and distinction. We also talk about self-giving love without competition, and how roles in marriage are meant for order and mission, not control.

Then we bring it home with covenant faithfulness and gospel witness. Ephesians 5 shows marriage pointing beyond itself to Christ and the church, which means our homes can become “sacred spaces” where grace, forgiveness, patience, and steadiness are visible to the world. If you want a stronger Christian marriage rooted in biblical truth, this conversation will give you language, Scripture, and a clear framework to build on.

  • Isaiah 5:18-30 - Sin on a Leash ... and Taking it for a Walk - 310
    Mar 24 2026

Send Questions or comments here! We'll respond back in future episodes.

Judah isn’t pictured as “making mistakes” in Isaiah 5. They’re hauling sin behind them on thick ropes, rewriting the definition of right and wrong, and even taunting God to prove he will judge. That’s a haunting setup for the final section of Isaiah 5:18–30, and it’s exactly where we finish chapter five in our verse-by-verse Bible study this week.

We slow down through each woe and trace the logic: self-deception hardens into open defiance, moral relativism replaces moral clarity, and pride turns into policy. We also connect Isaiah’s scoffers to 2 Peter 3, where false teachers use the “delay” of judgment to justify their desires. If you’ve ever wondered how a culture shifts from blessing to breakdown, this passage gives a brutally honest diagnosis: truth gets inverted, leaders get corrupted, and justice becomes something you can buy.

Then Isaiah shows the consequence with vivid detail. God summons a foreign nation as an instrument of judgment, describing an army that is disciplined, swift, and unstoppable, leaving darkness and distress in its wake. We wrap up with clear applications for life today: accountability for blessings, resisting the temptation to rename evil, refusing self-reliance without God, and taking the responsibility of leadership seriously in homes, churches, and communities.

    Mar 19 2026

Marriage would be easier if we could download a “Build A Spouse” app and patch every flaw with a click, but that fantasy hides a deeper problem: we start acting like we own marriage. We don’t. This week, we return to Genesis 2 to show marriage as God’s design from the beginning, built for companionship, covenant, and unity rather than for convenience or culture.

We unpack the moment God says it is “not good” for man to be alone, what “helper fit for him” really means, and why Eve's formation from Adam’s side points to equality, closeness, and partnership. From there, we dig into the biblical pattern of leaving, holding fast, and becoming one flesh, with “one flesh” reaching far beyond physical intimacy into spiritual, emotional, and practical unity. If you’re searching for Christian marriage advice that is anchored in Scripture, this is the blueprint.

Then we tackle a mindset shift that can change everything: marriage as a covenant, not a contract. Contracts are conditional and easy to exit when expectations are unmet. A covenant is sacred, witnessed by God, and modeled after the faithful love of Christ for the Church. We also talk honestly about marrying for the wrong reasons and the reality of being unequally yoked, while keeping the focus on returning to God’s purpose.

    Mar 17 2026

Send Questions or comments here! We'll respond back in future episodes.

Judah is throwing a never-ending party, buying up land, building bigger homes, pouring more wine, and assuming tomorrow will look like today. Then Isaiah steps into the room like the lights just came on, and God’s message is blunt: comfort without righteousness does not protect you, it blinds you. We open Isaiah 5:9–17 verse by verse and follow the logic of God’s warning as greed turns into desolation, abundance turns into scarcity, and self-indulgence turns into exile.

As we move through the passage, we connect Isaiah’s “woes” to the covenant framework of Deuteronomy 28, where blessing is tied to obedience and curse follows covenant infidelity. We talk about land grabbing and unjust accumulation, the futility of vineyards that barely produce, and a culture of drunken entertainment that “does not regard the deeds of the Lord.” The point isn’t that celebration is always wrong; it’s that pleasure can become a god that trains us to ignore God’s work, God’s voice, and God’s boundaries.

The warning intensifies with Isaiah’s line that the people go into exile “for lack of knowledge,” not lack of information, but lack of God-centered understanding. We also unpack the vivid Sheol imagery, the humbling of human pride, and the theological anchor of the section: the Lord of hosts is exalted in justice, and God shows himself holy in righteousness. If you’re looking for a Bible study podcast on Isaiah, spiritual blindness, pride, and God’s justice, this chapter lands close to home.
