  • Talent Sets the Floor, Character Sets the Ceiling
    Apr 14 2026

In Episode 65 of the Dialed & Driven Mentality Podcast, we break down one of the most overlooked — yet most important — elements of athletic success: character.

Athletes today spend countless hours developing their skills, training in the gym, and chasing performance gains. But when was the last time you worked on who you are as a teammate, competitor, and person?

We dive into why talent may get you noticed, but character is what ultimately determines how far you go. From tryouts to team selection, from locker room culture to long-term success, coaches aren’t just evaluating skill — they’re evaluating trust, consistency, and who they can rely on when it matters most.

    In this episode, we explore:

    • Why toxic talent can destroy even the most skilled teams
    • The key traits of high-character athletes: humility, perseverance, and coachability
    • How consistency of effort builds trust with coaches
    • Real stories of how character impacts opportunities at the next level
    • What coaches really mean when they say “you need to mature”
    • Practical ways to build character, even when your schedule already feels overwhelming

We also highlight powerful examples from elite athletes and championship teams, showing how character—not just ability—drives sustained success.

If you’re serious about reaching the top of your sport, this episode will challenge you to look beyond your skillset and focus on the foundation that truly elevates your ceiling.

Because in the end, character doesn’t just matter… it changes everything.

  • The 3 Real Signs You’re on the Right Path
    Apr 7 2026

Welcome to Episode 64 of the Dialed and Driven Mentality Podcast!

“The 3 Real Signs You’re on the Right Path”

In this episode, Jeff Lerg, Chris Palmer, and Natalie Ferenc take on one of the most frustrating questions athletes face: How do you know if you’re actually on the right path?

When you have big dreams, it’s easy to get caught up in the noise — the teams, the jerseys, the rankings, the tournaments, the exposure, and the constant pressure of feeling like everyone else is moving faster than you. You start asking yourself: Am I doing enough? Am I in the right environment? Am I getting passed?

We break down how to cut through that chaos and focus on what really matters.

From learning the difference between real development and just being busy, to understanding how your environment, habits, and self-accountability shape your future, this episode dives into the three real signs that you’re moving in the right direction — even when the path doesn’t look how you expected.

    Episode Highlights:
    • The difference between true improvement and just doing activity
    • Why being busy doesn’t always mean you’re getting better
    • How to tell if you’re growing mentally, not just physically
    • Why learning to make your own decisions is a major sign of maturity
    • The truth about environment — and why the wrong jersey can still be the right path
    • Why top-ranked teams at a young age can create a false sense of progress
    • How your daily habits either move you toward your goals or away from them
    • Why comparison and FOMO can completely cloud your judgment
    • The only two things that really matter in chasing a big dream: development and visibility
    • Real examples of late bloomers and unconventional paths that led to elite success
    • What to do when you feel like other people are passing you by
    • How to respond when you realize you may not be in the right environment

    AND SO MUCH MORE!

Whether you’re an athlete, coach, or parent, this episode is a powerful reminder that being on the right path doesn’t always look impressive from the outside. What matters most is whether you’re being challenged, developing intentionally, and building habits that actually serve your long-term goals.

Stay focused. Stay intentional. Stay dialed. Stay driven.

  • The Season’s Over… Now What?
    Apr 1 2026

Welcome to Episode 63 of the Dialed and Driven Mentality Podcast — brought to you by Vaughn Custom Sports!

    “The Season's Over… Now What?”

In this episode, Jeff Lerg, Chris Palmer, and Natalie Ferenc tackle one of the most uncertain — and most important — moments in an athlete’s journey: the offseason.

The season ends, the jersey comes off, and suddenly the questions hit: What now? Where am I playing? Should I be training? Am I falling behind? For many athletes, this time brings not just uncertainty… but an identity crisis.

The team dives into how to navigate that exact moment with clarity and purpose — instead of panic.

From the importance of stepping away and resetting mentally, to the power of reflection, cross-training, and building a plan, this episode breaks down why the offseason isn’t about doing more… it’s about doing what actually matters.

    Episode Highlights:
    • Why the end of a season can feel like losing your identity
    • How to handle not having a team (and why it’s more common than you think)
    • The importance of taking a mental and physical break after the season
    • Why cross-training and playing other sports can accelerate development
    • How to balance short-term opportunities vs. long-term growth
    • The truth about burnout — and how to avoid it
    • Why comparing yourself to others during the offseason is dangerous
    • How to reflect effectively: what went well, what didn’t, and why
    • Real examples of elite athletes using setbacks and breaks to level up
    • How to build a clear offseason plan instead of “bouncing around”
    • The 3 true purposes of the offseason: recover, decide, and build

    AND SO MUCH MORE!

Whether you’re an athlete, coach, or parent, this episode is a powerful reminder that the offseason isn’t something to survive — it’s something to maximize.

Take a step back. Reset. Build your plan. And go create what’s next.

    Stay dialed. Stay driven.
