  • Joshilyn Jackson, Missing Sisters and The Meadowlyn
    Apr 8 2026

Whenever Joshilyn stops by you know you're getting an excellent book and knock-down delicious cocktail. Today is no exception. The Missing Sisters has all her signatures: beautiful prose, excellent complex characters and perhaps the best opening scene I've ever read. And the Meadowlyn is like getting punched in the face by spring. Highly recommend. ALSO - I read the book but JOSHILYN NARRATES THE AUDIO!!! How amazing is that? Anyway - go get this book if you love great opening scenes, women getting revenge and complex characters. And I know you, you like all those things.

From the New York Times bestselling author of Never Have I Ever comes a chilling story of sisters and revenge.

    Revenge...It's all relative.

Born three minutes apart, Penny and Nix Albright grew up doing everything together, close as only twins can be. But when Nix dies in a tragic accident soon after college, she leaves behind a cryptic voicemail that has Penny guilt-ridden and desperate for justice.

    Five Years Later

Penny has found new purpose as a rookie cop. She’s working to fulfill Nix’s dream of making the world a safer place, but following that dream becomes a nightmare when she’s called to her first murder scene. When she sees the victim, she knows him instantly. It’s Danny Bowery—one of three men she’s long blamed for Nix’s death—splayed in a pool of blood outside a posh Atlanta shopping center, almost as if she’d wished it so.

Stunned, Penny steps away to catch her breath and discovers a blonde in blood-drenched clothes gripping a box cutter. Before Penny can arrest her, the woman reveals that Bowery’s murder is part of a larger story that is far from over. A story about sisters. And with that, the killer disappears.

Now, Penny will stop at nothing to pursue this dangerous woman and learn why she’s avenging Nix’s death. The deeper she dives into the mystery, the less clear it becomes who is hunting whom in this captivating page-turner of hidden motives and deadly consequences.

  • Mindy Hung, The Glowing Life of Leeann Wu and a Sparkling Hibiscus Thing
    Mar 3 2026

I love Mindy Hung. Her writing is like talking to a friend or having the perfect cup of coffee. It just feels good. Mindy has written a little bit of everything under a bunch of different pen names but The Glowing Life of Leeann Wu feels like the perfect blend of all her talents. It's got some magic (some menopause) some romance some family drama and a GORGEOUS cover. I can't recommend this book enough.

A seemingly inexplicable magic takes over the lives of three generations of women in this gripping and romantic novel sure to captivate readers of At the Coffee Shop of Curiosities and The Change.

Leeann Wu’s hands have started glowing at the most inconvenient times, and the single mother and midwife doesn’t know why. Could it be perimenopause? A hallucination brought on by a lack of sleep? On top of that concerning development, her daughter is off to university in a few months, her tenuous relationship with her ob-gyn mother is in peril of cracking, and she’s attracted the attention of a younger man who sees far more than she’s comfortable with. Her hands, glowing or not, are already full.

But as widespread insomnia plagues the town and life-threatening accidents begin to pile up, Leeann discovers the glow is not an anomaly at all—rather, she’s part of a long line of women who possess a power unlike anything Leeann’s ever known. Yet, even with the cryptic clues left by her great aunt before her untimely death, Leeann has no idea how to use her new skills.

With her town in imminent danger, Leeann doesn’t have time to waste. She’ll need to make peace with her magical heritage and do whatever it takes to find out if her glow means something more—before it’s too late.

  • Kristen Miller and The Women of Wild Hill and a Dark and Stormy
    Feb 3 2026

Like millions of you I read The Change a few years ago and it blew my little mind. Magic, menopause, female rage - it's a perfect witches brew for a fantastic book. Enter - The Women of Wild Hill. More witches than menopause, still lots of female rage and a dark destiny that ripples through a family. Kristen writes my kind of book - sharp but soft on the inside, full of women trying really hard and sometimes getting it wrong. A couple of murders and lots and lots of rage.

A witty, spectacular, and timely tale of modern-day witches waging war on the patriarchy, from fan favorite Kirsten Miller, the author of The Change and Lula Dean’s Little Library of Banned Books.

There are places on earth where nature’s powers gather. Girls raised there are bequeathed strange gifts. A few have powers so dark that they fear to use them. Such a place is Wild Hill, on the tip of Long Island. For centuries, the ghost of a witch murdered by colonists claimed the beautiful and fertile Wild Hill…until a young Scottish woman with strange gifts arrived. Sadie Duncan was allowed to stay.

Five generations of Sadie’s descendants called Wild Hill home, each generation more powerful than the last. Then, in the aftermath of a terrible tragedy, the last of the Duncans, once prophesized to be the most powerful of their kind, abandoned their ancestral home.

One of them, Brigid Laguerre moved to California and turned her dark gift into fame and fortune. Her sister, Phoebe, settled on a ranch in Texas, where women visit in secret for her tonics and cures. Phoebe’s daughter, Sybil, has become a famous chef. Seemingly powerless, Sibyl has never been told of the Duncan bloodline.

Now Brigid, Phoebe, and Sibyl have been brought to Wild Hill to discover their family legacy. The Old One, furious at the path mankind has taken, has chosen three powerful witches to turn the tide. The Duncans will fulfill their destinies—but only if they can set aside their grievances and come together as a family.

Find out more about Kristen and her books (I recommend all of them) here.
