If you like slowwwwww burning paranormal romance, this book is for you. When I say slowwwww, I mean slowwwwwwwww. I mean I almost dnf this book.

I tried to put it down, I was just too curious about the direction of the series to do so.

The “action” doesn’t really start until chapter 15 or so. Everything else is a long drawn out back story of the mfc. The author spent an inordinate amount of time dragging this characters body image. I was all set for the mfc to be a size 26 or larger. She’s a solid size 16, which doesn’t merit the focus on her body type. Which makes her childhood more tragic and traumatic.

By the time we finally get to chapter 20, all hell breaks out at the same time. War, labor, escape, and invasion all at the same time. It’s not a simple “twist” in the storyline. This is whiplash.

Wow…. The fmc rubs me the wrong way something fierce! I’m really disappointed/ bummed out. I was looking forward to the twins story so much! Normally I can get past an annoying character but holy crap she’s just the worst!! She’s one of those woe is me victim types but with a massive chip on her shoulder and a bitchy attitude. EVERYTHING is about her weight and how her ex bf used her blah blah blah.. I only made it 3 hours in before I just couldn’t take her shitty personality any more. With 10 more hours in the book it’s very possible I’m judging to soon… I was starting to get the urge to yell at my phone so I figured it was time to stop. I’ll try again sometime but for now this has been an extremely aggravating DNF.
