Cortney L. Winn’s sensational debut Vesselless is an addictive enemies-to-lovers romance following the heir to a fantasy kingdom, and the seductive spirit sent to claim her soulperfect for fans of Rebecca Yarros and Carissa Broadbent.

“I’ve seen monsters, Nizzara, and you are not one of them. A little beast maybe, but not a monster.”

Nizzara, reluctant heir to the Kingdom of Zarr, has always been able to perceive spirits better than the average caster. When she enters a deadly tournament to escape her betrothal, she's determined to win without succumbing to the addictive spirit magic she channels, or the unnerving darkness growing within her. But finding herself outmatched, Nizzara must face her fear of power and team up with Dagen—an enemy who is half-ghost and all charm—to survive the tournament.

Dagen, the last King of Zarr, was killed by Nizzara’s father ten years ago. Now a half-ghost—able to phase between his human and spirit form—he is stuck in another realm, hunting wretched souls for the god of death. When his keeper offers him a chance to reclaim his freedom in exchange for Nizzara’s soul, Dagen takes the deal.

There’s only one catch: she must give it to him freely by the tournament’s end, or his own soul is forfeit.

Perfect for fans of Fourth Wing and The Serpent and the Wings of Night, Vesselless isa spellbinding fantasy of magic and intrigue — and a tantalizing slow burn that will have you hooked until the very last page.

"One does not become resilient under ideal conditions."

Wow… I never thought I’d be into ghosts, but here we are 👀

Dagen? Yeah, he can whisper dirty things in my ear anytime he wants 🫠

And Nizzara… what a fierce FMC. She holds incredible power but refuses to use it because she is terrified of becoming like her father. Despite enduring years of abuse from her own family, she still manages to remain kind, compassionate, and good. I absolutely loved that about her.

It’s no surprise Dagen fell for her. Her pure, warm soul is exactly what made him hesitate and ultimately refuse to take it like he was meant to.

And that ending?! I will absolutely be stalking this author until I get my hands on the next book

It moves a little slow but had an interesting plot . My only complaint is waiting for the next book to come out.

Worth the credit

I really enjoyed this book! The story and world building was phenomenal. I liked that it was completely different than alot of the popular series right now - no elves or dragons etc. which I was starting to get slight fatigue of. It is a gripping fantasy with so many layers and opportunities for the writer to take the storyline. I liked the spirit hook and the pacing was exciting without feeling too rushed, though I wouldn’t have been sad if some parts were more drawn out. I can’t wait to find out what happens next!

Couldn’t stop listening!
