I enjoyed the story and wish more of Liz Fenwick's novels were available as a recorded books but not if they will be done by virtual voice. This was my first experience with virtual voice and I'm glad I didn't pay for this book. It was a very poor and strange experience. There were numerous problems.
-The story is simply read out loud. It is not narrated. -There is no emotion in the words and sentences.
-You can't always tell which character is talking.
-A person's thoughts are read the same as dialogue so it's not always clear what is a right and what is shared with other characters.
-Some words are mispronounced like nineteen and Tori.
-There is no pause between Demi's and Victoria's stories so it can take 2 or 3 sentences to figure out where you are in the story.
-In a few chapters, there are long pauses in between each characters dialogue and in other chapters, sentences are repeated.
Apparently there is no quality check work virtual voice.

I will not pay for any books recorded with a virtual voice because it distracts from the listening experience and the story. And because it puts voice artists out of work. I also do not want to listen to any more virtual voice books.

Good story, bad reading

The virtual narration was adequate but mispronouncing words such as the protagonist’s name. History of Cornwall and ancient beliefs was fun and interesting.
