Karnstein Castle stands like a bird of prey on the highest point of the hills that surround the village below. The book is as perfect a homage to late Era Hammer horror films of the 1980s as you will find anywhere. Just the right mixture of sex and violence and with great narration. The action and ending are predictable in keeping with the genre but no less fun for that.
