I saw that another person reviewed this book saying the characters weren't believable, but I'd say that's only if you're not being honest about true human nature. Tully's reactions to her life aren't expected, but honest. This might actually be one of my favorite books ever.

This one is my go to. I’ve read it each year since I was in college. When it came out on audible I had to get it.
It’s impossible to understand Tully in only one read. Each time I read or listen to it, I get more and more of Tully’s decisions. Sometimes, you really do… you beat back death. Sometimes you lose yourself in loss and grief so much you lose yourself. Tully is incredibly complicated. You love her. You hate her. You cry and laugh and yet, you come to understand her reasoning- maybe after the umpteenth time you’ve delved into the book. I am ever grateful this was Simon’s first novel. And I will forever be in love with the heartbreaking story and always hold Tully near and dear to my complicated past self.

When I got to where I had about 10 hours left I realized I was feeling sad and mopey. The narrator does a good job of expressing Tullys depression. I wished I could say I loved it, but the characters were just too...unbelievble and obnoxious.

I wanted to like it.
