The football star, the lumberjack, and a small-town love story…

Silas

Not to sound dramatic, but I can’t decide if I’m a hot mess, a has-been…or both.

There’s nothing quite like being in the spotlight at my lowest point. I could use a break from LA and my agent just for a little while. But Vermont in the middle of a blizzard? Probably not a great idea. However, the sexy lumberjack who lives next door is a sweet surprise. And so are his kids and the town.

I like this place. I could be happy here…at least till my new season begins.

Cooper

My time is split between work and fatherhood. That’s it. Boss and Dad. Maybe that’s why the football star is a breath of fresh air. Silas is funny, charismatic, and cool.

My kids love having a celebrity living next door. And me? I can’t remember the last time I felt quite so alive.

Yes, I’m well aware this isn’t going anywhere. Our worlds are just too different.

Too bad, ’cause this guy feels like the real thing.

Narrator: Mr. Nick Russo

I love Mr. Russo's narrations. He has such a smooth, melodic flow and he did a superb job. There was no problem differentiating between the two MC's, so it was very easy to follow the story-line. The rescue scene where Cooper saved Silas who was woefully unprepared for the cold weather was priceless.

The energy between Silas and Cooper was clearly expressed and very enjoyable to listen to. I loved how the men let down their reserves and I was treated to a very satisfying story that held my attention completely. All the beautiful emotions that was shared between these men flowed with the top notch narration.

Coopers kids Ivy and Chase were perfectly portrayed and brought to life with Mr. Russo's wonderful portrayal. The family scenes were some of my favorite and I found myself smiling for most of this presentation.

Story line:

When retired pro football player Silas takes a small retreat at his buddy's home in Vermont, he finds himself against the elements. LA didn't feature snow, and Vermont in the middle of a blizzard is more than Silas can tackle. To the rescue is his temporary neighbor Cooper, a hard-working lumberjack of a man. The rescue sets the tone for how the two men meet and interact.

Silas and Cooper are both divorced. Coop has two very endearing children. I just plain loved the dynamics between Silas and Cooper. Throw in Ivy and Chase, and slowly they become a family unit before the men realize how far gone they are for each other.

This novel explored a healthy, loving relationship and the sacrifices each man faced. The witty dialogue and melting chemistry made them a very believable couple. I was actually sad to see it end. In pure Lane fashion, she did not disappoint.

I highly recommend this amazing audio-book and hope it brings you joy! Happy Listening!

ALC Review of This Guy by Lane Hayes

4.5/5 ⭐ 2.5/5 🌶️

I absolutely loved this book. It was short, sweet & had a very original storyline. Not once did I feel like I was reading something familiar. It gives small-town, gay Hallmark Christmas movie vibes but less cheesey. I also loved that it was easily consumable. I finished the whole audiobook in half a day while running errands & doing simple tasks at home. It turned a fairly mundane Sunday into an enjoyable & relaxing afternoon.

I really enjoy listening to Nick J Russo & he did a great job narrating this story. If you have the choice between just reading this book & listening to the audiobook or doing an immersive read, I highly suggest adding the audiobook to your cart.

I loved this book. It’s a great single dad, lumberjack/sports romance. It’s the first book in a new small town romance series, Wood Hollow Stories, by Lane Hayes. There is so much to love about this book! Both MCs are divorced but still friendly with their ex-wives which is kind of refreshing.

What starts off as a one-off hot as 🔥 encounter when Cooper rescues Silas during a snow storm, turns into so much more when they meet up again a few months later. The chemistry between these two is palpable. When Silas returns to Wood Hollow, he becomes friendly with Cooper’s kids and gets involved with activities in the town.

Nick J. Russo did a great job performing this story!

A great start to a new series.

This was a really good book. I really enjoyed Silas and Cooper together. These two were grumpy and grumpy with both of them dealing with their own issues. Silas is trying to deal with life after football and a failed marriage while Cooper is trying to juggle being a part-time single father and managing a business. These two have more than enough issues going and neither need more on the plate but neither can stop they feel for each other. There was a lot of funny, heartwarming, sweetness, love, drama, cute, angst moments in this book and it was all worth it with the really sweet HEA that Copper and Silas get. This was my first by Lane Hayes and I will be back for more. Nick J. Russo is one of my favorite narrators! All of his work has been amazing and this story is no exception! I love how is was able to bring Silas and Copper alive for us.

I received an audible copy of this book and I am voluntary leaving my honest review.

Silas is a recently retired soccer player who is divorced and isn't quite sure what to do with his life. Once the football season is over, he heads to a small town to spend a few days.

He meets his neighbor, Cooper, a lumberjack who is also divorced and has two children.

Silas gets caught in a snowstorm and is rescued by Cooper.

Nick Russo's narration is fantastic; it brings the text and the characters to life.

I loved it.

A great sport romance audiobook
