What happens when you open your home to the perfect stranger?

Anna Klein is ready to return to work as a literary agent for the first time since having children. She and her husband, Josh, decide to hire a live-in nanny with some trepidation, but all their misgivings disappear as soon as they meet Oaklynn Durst. She has stellar references, a calm disposition, and a natural way with children. Not to mention their kids simply adore her.

But not long after Oaklynn arrives, the children start to come down with the most puzzling illnesses and inexplicable injuries. When the maternal Oaklynn is there to comfort everyone, Anna can’t help feeling a little eclipsed. And suspicious. Her husband and friends assure her that her anxieties are getting the best of her - Oaklynn is perfect. But Anna’s not so sure....

As she delves into Oaklynn’s past, she discovers too late that the woman who has been living in her house is not at all who she claims to be. But Oaklynn’s not the only one who has been lying. And when everyone’s dark secrets are forced into the light, the consequences may just turn deadly.

It gets off to a slow start but is a captivating story so once it picked up I was hooked. This is a very good read if you like suspense/crime type books. As I listened I realized Marine's character reminded me alot of the mom from the series The Act. I kept imagining her as Patricia Arquette as I went through the novel.

Patricia Arquette should play Nadine in the movie

A unusual plot where a nanny has stolen identity to hide from her ex and than after fired remains in the home to protect the children from her ex and hide. Keeps you involved and unable to quit the story

I lived in Charlotte NC for 25 years and both of my kids went to Myers Park Traditional School. I really enjoyed hearing about the different locations and streets. I’ve been everywhere you mentioned. Even the Harris Teeter at Morocroft off of Park Road. Excellent writing and I’m getting ready to listen to your book Lies That Bind Us.
Well DONE!!

This is the first book I have read by Andrew Hart and for me, it was a "page-turner" and the antagonist at the end was a surprise. I was, however, disappointed the ending did not complete the story of Anna and Josh's financial problems.

Intriguing
