So . . . I didn't handle the zombie apocalypse well. I used to be a third-grade teacher, but since the Gorging, my life has been . . . kinda rotten. I lost my group to the undead, became indebted to one of the gangs, and now I've been sold as a blood-slave. My new owner is Atlan, one of the vampire warriors who guard Blue City's walls and defend us from the zombies. The vampires are like celebrities around here. It's my job to provide Atlan with a clean blood source and any other services he needs. I keep telling myself I'm one of the lucky ones. But with the zombie hordes moaning on the other side of the wall, and the human-shaped monsters roaming Blue City, I'm not so sure anymore. Perfect for fans of Laura Thalassa and Jennifer L. Armentrout, this dystopian vampire romance positions vampire warriors as the saviors of humanity, the last defense against the hordes of zombies. Contains mature themes. Trigger and content warnings are available on the author's website.©2021 Rebecca F. Kenney (P)2022 Tantor Fantasy Vampires Paranormal

I loved this story.. it contained zombies and vampires but not in the traditional fantasy sense..
experimental medical treatments that have unexpected side effects. we get the creation of vampires..
I love the take on this and the explanation that makes it plausible.
now on to the story, the MMC is a Bruning sexy beast which is to be expected from Rebecca. she never lets me down. and the FMC is a fantastic mix of tough yet understandable in her vulnerable moments. it's a slow burn per say but the spice and attention to detail in this cinnamon roll of a man is swoon worthy..
the narrators were spot on with these characters and I could immerse in the high stakes emotions and heightened situations..

oh my zombie

🌶.5 (Slow Burn 🔥 build up)

Welcome back to "Why did it take me so long to read this?" the series. This has been on my list for a hot minute!

🧛‍♂️ Vampires? Check.
🧟‍♂️ Zombies? Check.
🔥 An angsty slow burn romance? Check.

This was one of those that once I started it, I could NOT put it down until I finished it. Vampires are the only ones who can defend humanity from the zombies, but they need the humans for their own survival to feed.

I love Atlan and Finnley so much. Smexy, bad@ss, vampire warrior lord with a bit of a golden retriever side, and a smidgen of "touch her and d!e" vibes. Throw in a desperate-to-survive blood sl@ve with a penchant for trouble. That's a recipe for a good time.

The build-up was deliciously slow, verging on edging. 🔥

By the time the last 20% of the book rolled around, I was sweating because there was way too much left unresolved and not enough pages! Then, I realized this is book one in a series. Thankfully, the next two are already out because I will be starting them immediately. 🙌

I can't recommend this enough!

Vampires, Zombies, Blood Sl@ves, OH MY

An actually interesting take on how the world ends and the denizens of the "new world". I enjoy the atypical scientific ideas of how the vampires and zombies are, and why they exist.

oddly funny

I realize the author stopped where she did so that you are left wanting more, but it was quite abrupt. Otherwise I loved the premise, the characters, the style of writing. It was a great, interesting, and easy listen. Of course the ending left me wanting more, as was intended. Cannot wait to start the next book. The dynamic between the two main characters was fun and playful. Their chemistry undeniable.

Abrupt ending, but awesome book

It started ok. But then it basically stops mid story and not worth reading the second
