this was a great prequel! i am ready to read the first book after this prequel to see what happens. the narration was top notch and the author did a fabulous drop creating a world, characters, and a story i can’t wait to read the rest of! this book was given to me to read voluntarily, my opinions & thought are my own, This is the most intriguing, mysterious, romantic book set in a supernatural world that i have read this year, Great introduction to a fantastic world,

I think this book is supposed to provide context / history for the next books - It's like a novella - Julia is a widow that has lost her husband to war but there is no body in his grave - When vampires hear her request to take her with him; Julia is given options which send her on a journey to find her husband.

New author and narrator for me. Not bad, I'm only mildly interested in this post WW2 paranormal romance with a few mysteries. It is only the prequel though.
