Loved this book generally,..but good grief would these audio book-producing companies hire people that can correctly pronounce common words!!! Every time he pronounced PLAToon, it was like sticking me with a pin.

Read this book a year or two ago. I actually tote this book around for whenever I need courage. John McCain gave a perspective which was amazing to me as a teen. I had no idea he was a POW. First few chapters on the battle of IA Drang I wished would never end because they were the most vivid. Later in the book they talk about the futility of hiding from mortars which just cements a larger perspective. If this is a book you like definitely recommend the things they carried.

There is nothing like first hand accounts of what happens in combat. These accounts had me on the edge of my seat. The only annoying thing is that the narrator kept calling corpsman… coors-man??
