The seamless confidence of Merton's prose would inspire his readers to write their own devotional diary.

this is a simple book from Trappist monk Thomas mertens teenage years all the way up until the moment he becomes a monk. the book is quite simple walking through his life at Columbia his relationship with his family and ultimately ending with the loss of his brother in war and then becoming a Trappist Monk.

this book does not necessarily include some of the teachings of Thomas Merton is literally an autobiography of his life from teenage years to the moment he becomes a monk. I enjoyed listening very much but there isn't too much to gain from the story. for that you'll have to read some of the actual teachings of Thomas merton, as this is much more an autobiography

a wonderful biography of the Trappist monk Thomas Merton

This is a wonderful narrative of his spiritual journey from embracing secular ideas into full spiritual maturity in God through prayer and devotion to the Lord.

God’s calling for his life despite the fact that he wasn’t raised in a religious family.
