She was searching for history. She found her destiny.

Archaeologist Emma is researching an ancient stone circle in Vermont when a freak event sends her tumbling through time. She lands in 1745 Scotland, in the middle of a hostile Highland clan who believe her modern clothes mark her as an English spy.
Lachlan MacLeod, the clan’s formidable laird, is suspicious of the strange woman who appeared in his hall. His clan’s most sacred relic has been stolen, and he can’t afford to trust an outsider. But Emma’s knowledge of their history is uncanny, and her courage is undeniable.
To save her own life, Emma makes a bold claim: she can help find the stolen relic. Lachlan agrees to a tense alliance, forcing her to prove her worth in the training yard and on the treacherous Highland trails. He is drawn to her spirit, but trusting her could be the mistake that costs his clan everything.

This standalone book has themes of time travel romance, fish out of water, mistaken identity, forced proximity, grumpy sunshine, Highlander romance, ancient artifact quest, clash of cultures, reluctant allies, and a strong heroine.

The story line was good. However the reputation of the journey was repetitive. As I was reading i could have sworn, not once or twice but more than a few times was repeated. Like it was copied and pasted from an earlier chapter. The hardship of Emma wasn't enough of a climax to keep me enchanted. She got away with superhero moves that just aren't realistic, no matter the time period she came from, highlander warriors are fierce and the fact she was so easily able to out wit them is not realistic. Also they never came back to her bag. Why mention it if it has no meaning to the storyline.
