Listening to the audiobook is like looking thru the eyes of a soldier. I felt their pain and everyday struggles. I am thankful for their service

This is a realistic view of what war is – at least as realistic as this listener could imagine, not having served. *I'm so grateful that I agreed to listen to this in exchange for my review. It may be short, but this is a strong book & makes one think.

I have always considered myself a patriot, from the three-year-old little girl waving the flag at 4 July parade to the woman I have become. I know that freedom is never free and I knew I could never comprehend anything further then jumping on a plane with my duffel bag.

My philosophy of war is that of "Peace through Strength. No matter what "side" you feel is the best course of action; leaving a large residual force or pulling everyone out by a certain date, it is not up to you or I to judge as these "conflicts" as they are taking place.

The Price I Paid, Ramadi will slap you in the face and have you thinking about our military forces daily and not through political lens.

Thank you to all who continue to, do and will sign up for one of the most important thankless jobs in America… A US Marine, Soldier, Sailor or Army. We owe you a tremendous debt that can never be repaid. You should be thought of every day of the year, not just on a couple of holidays.

Note: There is some pretty graphic details in the description of injuries.
