From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Say You'll Remember Me comes a beautiful, compelling novel that revels in laughter, friendship, and the messy choices life can throw our way.

In everyone’s life, there’s a split-second decision that can change everything...

For Larissa, it came when choosing who to ride home with after a concert. That night, she had no idea she’d met the perfect man. She and Chris are great friends, co-parenting a slightly unhinged rescue Yorkie, sharing their favorite books, and judging bread (pumpernickel for the win!). For the first time amid all her side hustles to scrape by, things finally feel easy.

But she didn’t choose Chris to drive her home all those months ago—she went with his best friend, and he became her boyfriend. All Chris wants is for Larissa to be happy. Standing by on the sidelines is slowly killing him, but making a move would destroy someone else. How can something that feels so right be absolutely impossible?

“A compulsively readable slow-burn romance full of grown-up worries and plenty of pining.”

The Night We Met by Abby Jimenez absolutely wrecked me in the best way.
This story is everything I love about Abby Jimenez’s writing—emotional, heartfelt, and so easy to get completely lost in. She has such a gift for creating characters that feel real, flawed, and deeply relatable, and I was fully invested in their journey from the very beginning.
The romance is beautifully done—equal parts swoony and emotional—with moments that genuinely made my chest ache. There’s a depth to the story that goes beyond just the relationship, touching on real-life struggles in a way that feels honest and meaningful without ever losing that hope-filled core.
I listened to this on audio, narrated by Teresa Palmer and Zachary Webber, and they truly brought the story to life. The emotion in their performances made every moment feel more impactful, and the dual narration added such a great depth to the overall experience.
There were moments that made me smile, moments that absolutely broke me, and moments that put me back together again. And that’s exactly what I want from a book like this.
If you love emotional romances with depth, heart, and characters that stay with you long after you finish, this one is an absolute must-read (or listen). 💛

Happy Reading

I LOVED this story. I think it was beautiful and human and so painfully real. It is the most nuanced story and I don’t say that to dismiss the hard or complicated parts that may polarize readers into a love or hate with this book. I say that because real people and relationships are this nuanced and complicated at times. I also love the evolution of male friendship we don’t often get in stories. A beautiful complicated disaster of a story that I love with my whole heart. NO one else could have delivered this audio either. Zachary Webber is the only narrator who could have been Chris.

So unique but potentially polarizing?!

no ifs, ands or buts about it.

her best yet…

I love her books, and preordered this one as soon as I saw it. I’ve read all of her books but one, and this was probably my least favorite. It’s just a little too much. Too cliché - cringeworthy at times. The guy is too perfect (bordering on stalker/lacking self respect?) I found myself eye rolling too many times.
Hoping to like the next one more.

A little too Hallmark Channel
