As Bella investigates, she faces police corruption, departmental politics, and the deadly crime syndicate the Yakuza. To add to the mystery, leaks from within the Bureau keep frustrating the case, and every team member harbors dangerous secrets.

The story seemed very promising but I was continuously distracted by the reader. I always check for and saw a named reader in the title details because I don’t care for AI readers. If this was an actual person reading they must not have read the book before performing it. Much of the meaning of a sentence was changed by wrong emphasis or splitting sentences in the middle of a phrase. This sounded like a poorly voiced AI to me and I had a hard time finishing it.

An exciting story but poorly read.

The book was great, so many twists and turns, it kept me kn the edge of my seat wanting to keep listening for hours. And Claire Duncan is a fantastic narrator, I have enjoyed all of the AJ Rivers books she has narrated.

The narrator was so hard to listen to. I am only on chapter 3 and I’m not sure I can listen to any more of the book.

The story sounds like it was written by a student with no literary writing experience. The narrator can’t even pronounce some of the words correctly. Waste of money or in this case credit.
