This title uses virtual voice narration

Virtual voice is computer-generated narration for audiobooks.
I grew up in the FLDS. My life was hectic and unstable. After leaving, I brought it up I conversation. Some people said I should write a book. This is that book. It is a short, 23,000-word, memoir with my memories about cult indoctrination and the events of my life.
This short book is written in 3 parts. Part 1 is the history, indoctrination, and setting of the church. Part 2 is my story in the church. In part 3, I talk about the struggles I face as a result of my upbringing, what I’ve learned about the world, and where I am now in this journey of life.
Much time and revision went into this book. If I mentioned you and you feel I treated you unfairly, I apologize. If I did not mention you and you feel that I should have, know I did not deliberately exclude you.
I hope you enjoy this short book. Happy reading!

I didn't like the virtual voice. It didn't pronounce all words correctly. It wasn't authentic.

I didn’t like the book being read by AI. I thought it of course lacked emotion and empathy but I really like listening to other people’s stories from the FLDS since it is unique.

Good book, but didn’t like the AI reading it!

This is more like a long winded essay than a book. A lot of the information is repeated more than once

The AI reading sucks

I don't usually listen to things narrated by virtual voice but I enjoyed hearing her story and progression.

interesting despite the narration

Reading The First 20 Years Old FLDS brought back the same heavy feelings I had from other FLDS stories. The pain these women endured is hard to take in, and knowing it’s ongoing makes me want to help even more. I plan to purchase and read as many FLDS memoirs as I can to better understand their experiences and support their voices. These stories are powerful testaments to resilience and courage in the face of unimaginable control. The part about In-N-Out really hurt my heart because I know the owner personally and consider her a dear friend. She shouldn’t have to feel that way about her company, especially since it’s such a wonderful place. I wish I could treat her to a burger and shake to help her heal and remind her how much she’s appreciated.

A Painful but Important Read
