Through no fault of his own, the once human Jim Eckert had become a dragon. Unfortunately, his beloved Angie had remained human. But in this magical land anything could happen. To make matter worse, Angie had been taken prisoner by an evil dragon and was held captive in the impenetrable Loathly Tower. So in this land where humans were edible and beasts were magical—where spells worked and logic didn't—Jim Eckert had a big, strange problem.

The narrator does an excellent job with the voices of the many different characters. I hope he continues with the rest of the "Dragon Knight" series.

Amazing book!

The story is good, I already knew that going in, having listened to the original audiobook available. The narrator is fine, and if this were the only version I had heard the overall and performance rating would be significantly better.

The largest issues are with the voice work for certain characters and the constant mispronunciation of characters’ names. When the narrator mispronounces the names of Gorbash, Carolinus, or Aragh it takes me out of the story.

The other major issue is the voice work for certain characters like Carolinus who sounds more like Potter Puppets pals version of Dumbledore rather than the wise and gruff curmudgeon he's written as.

All in all this version is a downgrade and that's why I rate it so low. If this version existed in a vacuum the score would be much better.

Good Book But A Significant Downgrade
