Critic reviews

"Manhattan, beware! Formidable reporter Poppy Danby enjoys a luxury voyage across the Atlantic. Her indefatigable and entertaining search for truth reveals the seediness and glamour of 1920s New York." (Frances Brody, author of the Kate Shackleton mysteries)

Good series. I always learn a lot and the mysteries keep me guessing. Ready for the next book!

well written, well read

love this series...but a little much on the filler..and this was a little predictable but still a fun and interesting listen.

good but predictable

Character development-ok, but finding the worse of the worse without a good reason to develop that character like a mystery or a goal, is boring. If I want to hear about bigotry, I only need to turn on the news. If I want to read about the cruelty women suffered through to get the vote, I will pick up my history books. Where is the mystery which is why I brought this book? It was not there after a few chapters. I couldn’t finish the book, will not continue the series.

Too boring, too much suffering, where is the mystery?
