Elin Hilderbrand, author of the enchanting Summer People and The Beach Club, invites you to experience the perfect getaway with her sparkling novel, The Blue Bistro.

Adrienne Dealey has spent the past six years working for hotels in exotic resort towns. This summer she has decided to make Nantucket home. Left flat broke by her ex-boyfriend, she is desperate to earn some fast money. When the desirable Thatcher Smith, owner of Nantucket's hottest restaurant, is the only one to offer her a job, she wonders if she can get by with no restaurant experience. Thatcher gives Adrienne a crash course in the business...and they share an instant attraction. But there is a mystery about their situation: what is it about Fiona, the Blue Bistro's chef, that captures Thatcher's attention again and again? And why does such a successful restaurant seem to be in its final season before closing its doors for good? Despite her uncertainty, Adrienne must decide whether to open her heart for the first time, or move on, as she always does.

Infused with intimate Nantucket detail and filled with the warmth of passion and the breeze of doubt, The Blue Bistro is perfect summer reading.

I love all Ellen Hilderbrand books, this one however was a let down.
First, two of the main characters are also in 28 Summers, it was so confusing and hard to really enjoy them.
The main character Adrienne is awful. Immature, spoiled, self centered and unlikable.
The ending was very abrupt, I feel like the characters weren’t developed very well and there was no real closure.
3 out of 5 stars.

Unsatisfying

Spoiler Alert!
The FMC is going to just go back with the guy after he married someone else and didn’t call her for 3 weeks? Seriously? Good story until the end. Let’s have some self respect….she came in 2nd place the entire book. Very disappointed in the ending. EH is so talented but I don’t get the ending on several books she’s written. Ugh. I feel like I wasted a credit after finishing the last two chapters.

Terrible ending

loved the idea of the story and enjoyed reading about the restaurant industry and the love story, but the ending was very disappointing for me. I wanted it to wrap up better, or have a sequel. it left me just blah.

story was great, the ending was not

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The heroine was supposed to be a top notch hotel concierge, but made amateur mistakes as hostess at the restaurant, that was irritating. Like taking a reservation without getting a phone number/name. Plus, of all the Elin Hildebrand books I have listened to, this one was my least favorite, it went on too long!

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The behind the scenes aspect of a well heeled bustling restaurant was fascinating, plus the story of the the dual owners relationship. The restaurant staff characters were really well drawn. Many of the items on the restaurants menu I have found locally at real restaurants, such as lamb lollipops and steak frites... I wonder if the chef read the book!

Have you listened to any of Christina Delaine’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I don't think I have.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

yes definitely. It''s Elin Hildebrand!

Any additional comments?

Aside from being much too long and doubting the validity of the hostess's competence, it was a good read. Can't miss one in a series!!
