SuperSillyUs (Supercilious) is a biting short story about two educated, respectable women who did everything “right” — and hate the women who didn’t, but won anyway.

Lexi and Nola were raised to believe modesty was power, education was protection, and dignity would eventually pay off. Now in their thirties, they find themselves underpaid, unmarried, and quietly furious, watching sex workers and online “heauxs” buy luxury handbags, condos, and freedom with nothing but confidence, Wi-Fi, and a lack of shame.

What starts as judgment quickly curdles into fixation. As Lexi and Nola scroll, dissect, and sneer at the women they call “Bubblegum Bitches,” their moral superiority begins to feel suspiciously expensive. When one of those very women walks into their restaurant and casually orders a meal that costs more than their bank balances can comfortably handle, the fantasy collapses into something far uglier: envy they can no longer pretend is righteous.

SuperSillyUs explores class resentment, respectability politics, and the quiet humiliation of realizing that following the rules doesn’t guarantee a payoff. It’s a story about looking down on women who took risks — and hating them most for being rewarded.
